- المحارة الأنفية (بالإنجليزية: Nasal concha) في علم التشريح هي عبارة عن رف عظمي طويل وضيق يبرز خلال مجري التنفس في الأنف، لدى كل من البشر والحيوانات المختلفة. وتأخذ المحارة الأنفية شكل صدفة أو المحارة البحرية، وهذا هو سبب تسميتها بهذا الاسم. وتشمل عظام المحارة الأنفية أي عظام إسفنجية أفقية موجودة في الممرات الأنفية في الفقاريات. تُقسم المحارات الأنفية الممر الهوائي الأنفي إلى أربعة ممرات هوائية تشبه الأخدود، وهي مسؤولة عن إجبار الهواء الذي تم استنشاقه على التدفق في نمط ثابت ومنتظم حول أكبر مساحة سطح ممكنة للغشاء المخاطي للأنف. وباعتبار أن غشاء الأنف المخاطي عشاء له أهداب ذات إمدادات دموية سطحية، فإن الغشاء يقوم بتنظيف وتسخين الهواء المستنشق من أجل تهيئته للذهاب إلي الرئتين. قد تؤدي الدورة الدموية السريعة التوسع لهذه العظام إلى زيادة حادة في الضغط بالداخل، استجابةً للتبريد الحاد لدرجة حرارة الجسم. غالباً ما يشار إلى الألم الناتج عن هذا الضغط باسم " تجميد الدماغ "، وكثيراً ما يرتبط ذلك بالاستهلاك السريع للآيس كريم. تساهم سطحية الإمداد الدموي للغشاء المخاطي في سهولة حدوث نزيف الأنف. - In anatomy, a nasal concha (/ˈkɒnkə/), plural conchae (/ˈkɒnkiː/), also called a nasal turbinate or turbinal, is a long, narrow, curled shelf of bone that protrudes into the breathing passage of the nose in humans and various animals. The conchae are shaped like an elongated seashell, which gave them their name (Latin concha from Greek κόγχη). A concha is any of the scrolled spongy bones of the nasal passages in vertebrates. In humans, the conchae divide the nasal airway into four groove-like air passages, and are responsible for forcing inhaled air to flow in a steady, regular pattern around the largest possible surface area of nasal mucosa. As a ciliated mucous membrane with shallow blood supply, the nasal mucosa cleans and warms the inhaled air in preparation for the lungs. The pain from this pressure is often referred to as "brain freeze", and is frequently associated with the rapid consumption of ice cream.
