- نانسي ماركوس (بالإنجليزية: Nancy Marcus) هي أحيائية أمريكية، ولدت في 17 مايو 1950 في نيويورك في الولايات المتحدة، وتوفيت في 12 فبراير 2018 بسبب ورم ميلانيني عنبي. اشتهرت بخبرتها في علم البيئة وعلم الأحياء التطوري وبأبحاثها الميدانية في هذا المجال، بدأت نانسي حياتها المهنية كزميلة ما بعد الدكتوراة في معهد وودز هول لعلوم المحيطات حيث درست العديد من الأحياء البحرية وتأثيراتها على بيئة المحيطات، وواصلت أبحاثها الميدانية فيما بعد كأستاذة لعلوم المحيطات، وكمديرة لمختبر جامعة ولاية فلوريدا البحرية لاحقاً، وخلال هذه الفترة أيضاً انتُخبت كزميلة لجمعية نساء في العلوم والرابطة الأمريكية للتقدم العلمي، وشغلت منصب رئيسة جمعية علوم البحار وعلوم المحيطات، وأثناء اضطلاعها بهذه المهمة قادت الجهود المبذولة لزيادة أنشطة التعليم وزيادة الهبات المُقدمة للجمعية. في عام 2005 تحوَّلت ماركوس من المجال العلمي إلى المجال الإداري عندما تمَّ تعيينها كعميدة لكلية الدراسات العليا بجامعة ولاية فلوريدا البحرية FSU، وخلال الفترة التي قضتها في هذا المنصب، زادت الجامعة عدد شهادات الدكتوراه الممنوحة سنوياً إلى الضعف، وابتكرت العديد من البرامج الأكاديمية وأنشأت مكتب جامعة فلوريدا للزمالات والعديد من جوائز الدراسات العليا، وعملت في مجلس أمناء كلية غوتشر من عام 2009 إلى عام 2016، بعد أن كانت سابقاً رئيسة للجنة الشؤون الأكاديمية في الجامعة، توفيت نانسي ماركوس في 12 شباط فبراير 2018 بعد عامين من صراعها مع الميلانوما. - Nancy Helen Marcus (May 17, 1950 – February 12, 2018) was an American biologist and oceanographer. During her graduate studies, Marcus became known as an expert on copepod ecology and evolutionary biology. She began her career as a postdoctoral fellow at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution where she studied copepod dormancy and its implications for marine aquaculture. She continued her field research as a professor of oceanography and later as the director of the Florida State University Marine Laboratory (FSU). During this time Marcus was elected as a Fellow of the Association for Women in Science and the American Association for the Advancement of Science and served as the President of the Association for the Sciences of Limnology and Oceanography. As the president, she led efforts in increase education activities and to increase the endowment fund. In 2005, Marcus transitioned from the sciences to college administration when she was appointed Dean of the FSU Graduate School. During her tenure, FSU nearly doubled the number of doctoral degrees awarded annually. She created several graduate academic programs and the FSU Office of Graduate Fellowships and Awards. Marcus served a term as chair of the Board of Directors for the Council of Graduate Schools to address the future of graduate education. Outside of academia, Marcus was a magician and ventriloquist. She served on the Goucher College Board of Trustees from 2009 to 2016 and was previously the chair of the academic affairs committee. Marcus died on February 12, 2018 after two years of treatment for uveal melanoma. (en)

Elle commence sa carrière en tant que post-doctorante à l'Institut océanographique de Woods Hole où elle étudie la dormance des copépodes et ses implications pour l'aquaculture marine. Elle poursuit ses recherches sur le terrain, en tant que professeur d'océanographie, puis en tant que directrice du laboratoire marin de l'université d'État de Floride (FSU). Pendant cette période, Nancy Marcus est élue membre de l'Association for Women in Science, de l'Association américaine pour l'avancement des sciences et elle devient présidente de l' (en). En tant que présidente, elle dirige les efforts visant à accroître les activités d'éducation et à augmenter son fonds de dotation. En 2005, elle passe des sciences à l'administration des collèges lorsqu'elle est nommée doyenne de la FSU Graduate School.
