- أن إيدت (بالإنجليزية: NEdit) هو محرر نصوص ينتمي لعائلة البرمجيات الحرة والمفتوحة المصدر وهو مخصص لكتابة الشيفرة المصدرية لبرامج الحاسوب على المنصات التي تدعم نظام النافذة إكس، ويتميز بوجود واجهة مستخدم مشابهة لمحررات النصوص التي تعمل على أنظمة ميكروسوفت ويندوز وماكينتوش، تم تطويره في البداية على يد لمصلحة مختبرات فيرميلاب وفي ذلك الوقت تم إدراجه تحت نصوص رخصة استخدام مقيدة، ولكن اليوم يتم توزيعه تحت شروط رخصة جنو العمومية وقد أقدم على تطويره بعد ذلك فريق من المطورين كمشروع مستقل ومفتوح المصدر. Tiene una interfaz gráfica de usuario, basado en la biblioteca Motif, más similar a los editores de Windows o Macintosh que editores tradicionales de Unix como Emacs. Originalmente, NEdit fue desarrollado por Mark Edel para Fermilab (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory), un laboratorio gubernamental en los Estados Unidos, y distribuido bajo una licencia restringida. - NEdit, the Nirvana editor, is a text editor and source code editor for the X Window System. It has an interface similar to text editors on Microsoft Windows and Macintosh, rather than to older UNIX editors like Emacs. It was initially developed by Mark Edel for Fermilab and released under a very restrictive licence, but today it is distributed under the less restrictive GPL-2.0-or-later (plus Motif clause) and is developed as an independent open-source project by a team of developers. Nedit was also distributed with the IRIX operating system. NEdit is extensible through a C-like macro language, and it features automatic indentation and syntax highlighting for a wide variety of computer languages. NEdit can also process tags files generated using the Unix ctags command or the Exuberant Ctags program. Its user interface is built using the Motif toolkit, which made it an immediate success with a wide range of Unix platforms whose user interfaces use that toolkit. For a fully open source version, the alternative LessTif library could be used instead, but more recently the main Motif toolkit was made open source as well. Major development on SourceForge stopped in 2010, with minor updates being made as recently as February 2017. According to the project's news page the source repository has been converted from CVS to Git in September 2014. Version 5.6 was released in December 2014, after more than ten years since the release of the previous version, reflecting changes made during the time. This code is based on what was in the Debian NEdit package for some time. (en)

Risultato dallo sforzo di sviluppatori volontari, ha alle spalle un'ampia comunità di sviluppatori ed utilizzatori. Dalla versione 5.1 è distribuito con i termini della GNU General Public License. Sviluppato originariamente su un sistema Unix, è oggi disponibile su tutti i principali sistemi Unix e GNU/Linux ma può funzionare anche su altri sistemi, come il macOS, OS/2 e Microsoft Windows. Il progetto non ha più avuto aggiornamenti significativi da ottobre 2004 ed il suo sviluppo pare definitivamente cessato da ottobre 2012. (it)
