The gameplay is more sophisticated than in previous Myst games, and the graphics are in real-time 3D (as they are in realMyst) rather than being pre-rendered stills. Uru Live was initially the term used to describe the online multiplayer component of , rebranded Myst Online: Uru Live, and released in the US and 13 other countries. The game survived for approximatley one year, which comprised of nine builds or 'episodes', each releasing new content. On 4 February 2008, Ricardo Sanchez, VP of Content and Creative Director for GameTap announced that GameTap were to discontinue Myst Online: Uru Live: In line with this, the game servers were shut down at 05:01 UTC (00:01 EST) on April 10 2008, preventing further access to the game. On 2 July 2008, it was announced that GameTap and Cyan Worlds had reached an agreement that would return the rights of Myst Online to Cyan Worlds. Windows Vista support was simulataneously added for the GameTap client, and on 20 March GameTap released a Mac OS X version of the game. On May 19 2007, Myst Online made the move to episodic releases, with each episode lasting a week, during which all DRC activity occurred and all new ages were released.
