- La musique yéménite est celle pratiquée depuis le XIVe siècle au Yémen situé aux confins de la péninsule arabique. Bien que proche de la musique arabe, elle a quelques particularités quant à sa pratique due à l'influence de la musique de l'Afrique de l'Est et de l'océan Indien. Terre d'échanges, de caravanes et de marins, le Yémen partage bien des traits musicaux avec la musique omanie et égyptienne. Récemment, de nombreux musiciens yéménites de confession juive se sont expatriés en Israël où ils sont très appréciés (comme Ofra Haza ou Talya G. A Solan). L’UNESCO a proclamé la tradition musicale de Sanaa, al-Ghina al-San'ani, comme étant un chef-d'œuvre du patrimoine culturel immatériel de l'humanité, le 7 novembre 2003. (fr)
