Murewa (also spelled Mrewa or Muhrewa) is a township (and district) in Zimbabwe, 75 kilometers northeast from the capital of Harare, at the road to Tete (Mozambique). It is situated almost 1400 m above sea level. In 2002, the number of inhabitants was 8398. Public and private buildings are simple. "Growthpoint" and village have the character of a township. Nearby there are the having three tunnels, some as short as 9 km, and other sites with rock paintings of the San. These paintings are at least 1000 years old.

In den letzten Jahren wurde von der methodistischen Mission in Murewa ein Waisenhaus für AIDS-Waisen (Surviving Child Orphan Trust) aufgebaut. Der Distrikt Murewa erstreckt sich über 120 km vom 1740 m hohen Mount Ahwa (10 km nördlich von ) im Süden bis an den Mazoe-Fluss im Norden. Die Meereshöhe der Tallagen liegt im Süden und in der Mitte des Distriktes bei 1400 m, am Mazoe zwischen 700 und 800 m. Darüber erheben sich Hügel mit sanften Hängen und Zeugenberge mit steilen Felsflanken. Die große Mehrheit der Einwohner sind Shona. Drei Viertel des Gebietes sind von traditioneller afrikanischer Landwirtschaft bestimmt, das südliche Viertel von kommerziellen Farmen. Im Süden befinden sich auch drei kleine Hügelforts aus der Spätphase der alten Simbabwe-Kultur (Mutapa-Staat). (de)
