  • Mozilla Sunbird o Sunbird es una aplicación basada en el módulo (o extensión) de calendario de Mozilla y que cumple con holgura en sus funciones de agenda, lista de tareas y calendario con alarmas. Dispone de una interfaz de diseño sencillo, con varias posibilidades de visualización, y toda una serie de funciones que te permitirán gestionar tu vida diaria tanto en el aspecto laboral como personal: programación de tareas, citas, aniversarios y otros eventos importantes, herramienta de alarmas, etc. Una de las posibilidades más interesantes que ofrece es la posibilidad de gestionar un calendario compartido para un grupo de personas. Es posible de este modo la creación de calendarios colaborativos para grupos de trabajo. La aplicación utiliza archivos estándar del tipo .ics, los cuales están alojados en un servidor. El servidor web que servirá los calendarios deberá estar configurado en modo WEB-DAV, de esta forma será posible guardar los cambios realizado por los clientes. (es)
  • Mozilla Sunbird ist eine eigenständige, plattformunabhängige Personal-Information-Manager-Software (PIM-Software) des Mozilla-Projekts und ist ein Teilprojekt von Mozilla Calendar, das außerdem die Thunderbird-Erweiterung Lightning enthält. Sunbird verwendet seit der Version 0.3a1 eine SQLite-Datenbank zur internen Speicherung der Kalenderdaten, unterstützt aber auch den Standard iCalendar zum Speichern und Laden von externen Kalendern. Es existieren weitere Im- und Exportfilter für verschiedene andere Dateiformate. Bei der Bezeichnung Sunbird handelt es sich um den Projektnamen, der eventuell mit fortschreitendem Entwicklungsstand noch geändert wird. Die Software soll letztlich sowohl den Browser Mozilla Firefox als auch das E-Mail-Programm Mozilla Thunderbird unterstützen und leistet somit einen weiteren Beitrag zu einer vollständigen Open-Source-Alternative zum Internet Explorer und Microsoft Outlook, aber auch zu den zusammen mit Mac OS X (Apple) vertriebenen Programmen Apple Mail und iCal. L'applicazione è utilizzabile gratuitamente ed è possibile accedere al codice sorgente del software, ovvero è open source. È espandibile con componenti aggiuntivi (estensioni e temi). L'applicazione funziona su diversi sistemi operativi: Microsoft Windows, Linux e Mac OS X. Esistono inoltre versioni non ufficiali per Solaris e OS/2. L'ultima versione, uscita ad aprile del 2008, è la 0.8, ed è disponibile in 29 lingue, tra le quali l'italiano. Come si intuisce dal numero della versione, Sunbird è un programma ancora in pieno sviluppo, ma ha già raggiunto un'affidabilità sufficiente per l'utilizzo quotidiano. Sunbird è basato sulla stessa tecnologia con la quale sono sviluppati Mozilla Firefox (un browser web) e Mozilla Thunderbird (un client di posta elettronica), due applicazioni molto diffuse prodotte anch'esse da Mozilla Foundation. L'applicazione è disponibile in due versioni: * Mozilla Sunbird, che si installa e si usa in modo indipendente * Lightning, che è una estensione per Mozilla Thunderbird; permette di utilizzare il programma in modo integrato con Thunderbird. Le due versioni sono basate sullo stesso codice sorgente, ed offrono sostanzialmente le medesime funzionalità.
