- El bora és una llengua indígena d'Amèrica del Sud que es parla a la regió occidental de la selva amazònica pels bora. El bora és una llengua tonal que, a part del ticuna, és un tret únic a la regió. La majoria dels seus parlants resideixen al Perú i a Colòmbia. Al voltant de 2.328 parlants bora viuen a les zones del nord-est dels rius Yaguasyacu, Putumayo i Ampiyacu del Perú. També hi ha uns 500 parlants de Bora a Colòmbia al departament de Putumayo. Els parlants peruans tenen una taxa d’alfabetització del 10 al 30% i una taxa d’alfabetització del 25 al 50% en la seva segona llengua castellana. Els primers investigadors lingüístics van pensar que el bora estava relacionat amb la llengua huitoto, però hi ha molt poca similitud entre les dues. La confusió va ser molt probable a causa del freqüent matrimoni entre les tribus i el dialecte ocaina del witoto que té moltes paraules bora. (ca)
- Bora is an indigenous language of South America spoken in the western region of Amazon rainforest. Bora is a tonal language which, other than the Ticuna language, is a unique trait in the region. The majority of its speakers reside in Peru and Colombia. Around 2,328 Bora speakers live in the areas of the northeast Yaguasyacu, Putumayo and Ampiyacu rivers of Peru. There are about 500 speakers of Bora also in Colombia in the Putumayo Department. Peruvian speakers have a 10 to 30% literacy rate and a 25 to 50% literacy rate in their second language of Spanish. Early linguistic investigators thought that Bora was related to the Huitoto (Witoto) language, but there is very little similarity between the two. The confusion was most likely due to the frequent intermarriage between the tribes and the Ocaina dialect of Witotoan which has many Bora words. (en)
- El Bora es una lengua indígena de América. El Bora propiamente dicho tiene una inteligibilidad mutua del 94% con el dialecto Miraña. Es una lengua tonal como los demás miembros de la familia lingüística bora-huitoto. La familia Bora está compuesta por 3 lenguas, Lenguas muinane (550 personas), Bora (650 personas) y miraña (660 personas). Se conservan varias tradiciones orales que han sido recogidas y publicadas desde los años 70. Este idioma ha tenido textos impresos por el antiguo Ministerio de Educación Pública del Perú en su propio alfabeto por lo menos desde la década de 1950. Además tiene un alfabeto reconocido oficialmente en el Perú, aunque no todavía en Colombia. El Bora ha tenido su propio alfabeto desde hace décadas que ha utilizado el ministerio de educación del Perú con ayuda del Instituto lingüístico de verano. Se ha desarrollado un diccionario y una gramática de la lengua en el Perú, aunque en Colombia también se habla la lengua Bora en forma del dialecto miraña.Se considera que actualmente existen entre dos mil y tres mil borahablantes, aunque durante la década de los años veinte del siglo XX se calculaban cerca de veinte mil indígenas Bora. La lengua Bora se caracteriza por su alto número de clasificadores, prefijos instrumentales y pronombres que funcionan como prefijos de raíces verbales. (es)
