  • Minister Mentor (Simplified Chinese: 内阁资政) is a cabinet position created by the Singapore government in 2004 as part of a leadership transition. The first and current Minister Mentor of Singapore is Lee Kuan Yew. The newly appointed Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong, announced his father's new title together with the naming of his Cabinet on August 12 2004. The older Lee had previously served as Prime Minister (1959–1990) and Senior Minister (1990–2004). The creation of the position of Minister Mentor was intended as a way of keeping Lee Kuan Yew in the cabinet, after his successor Goh Chok Tong handed over the Prime Minister post to Lee Hsien Loong. The Minister Mentor's role is advisory and consultative." (en)
