| - Millwall Football Club are an English professional football team based at The New Den, referred to by fans as The Den, in Bermondsey, South East London. They currently play in Football League One.
Their team nickname is The Lions, previously, The Dockers. They changed the nickname after being referred to as "Lions" for their acts of giant killing in their FA Cup run of 1900, when they reached the semi final. They adopted a lion emblem, and the motto: We Fear No Foe Where E'er We Go. The emblem, however, was not added to their shirts until 1936. They also reached the semi final in 1903, and 1937. Their 1937 appearance was notable as they became the first team in the old third division to reach the last four, knocking out three First Division sides on the way, including Derby County who were defeated in front of Millwall's official record crowd of 48,762, with thousands more locked out. Their original now defunct nickname, "The Dockers", emanated from the occupation of the club's supporters. Millwall were the only club up to the early 1960s allowed to kick-off home games at 3.15pm, instead of 3pm, to allow the dockers and Deal porters to finish the morning shift and arrive on time. In recent years the club has started to once again recognise its unique link with London's docks by introducing 'Docker Days', and archiving the club's dock roots in the Millwall FC Museum.
Their traditional strip consists of blue shirts, white shorts and blue socks. Their current strip is blue shirts, white shorts with blue trim and blue socks. (en)

George Graham was de trainer van Millwall tussen 1983 en 1986. Hij leidde de club naar het kampioenschap in de derde divisie en dwong daarmee promotie naar de tweede divisie af. Graham verliet de club om naar Arsenal te vertrekken. Hij werd opgevolgd door John Docherty. In zijn tweede seizoen (1987/88) promoveerde de club naar de Football League First Division voor de eerste keer in het bestaan van de club. Het eerste seizoen verliep boven verwachting. Een groot deel van het seizoen stond de club in de top vijf, maar eindigde uiteindelijk als tiende. In september 1989 stond de club kortstondig eerste in de competitie, maar daarna werden nog maar twee wedstrijden gewonnen en de club degradeerde.
In het seizoen 1993/94 was de club dichtbij promotie naar de Premier League, maar Derby County was te sterk in de playoffs.
In 2003 werd Dennis Wise aangesteld als speler-trainer. Hij leidde de club naar de eerste FA Cup-finale, die het echter met 3-0 van Manchester United verloor. De club mocht echter, omdat Manchester United zich voor de Champions League had geplaatst, wel in de UEFA Cup uitkomen. De Hongaarse club Ferencváros was echter al in de eerste ronde te sterk.
In 2005 kondigde voorzitter Theo Paphitis aan dat hij zijn post verliet. Hij werd opgevolgd door Jeff Burnidge. Dennis Wise kondigde aan het eind van het seizoen 2004/05 aan dat hij opstapte, omdat hij niet kon samenwerken met de nieuwe voorzitter. Na slechts een twee maanden in dienst van de club liet Burnidge echter weten ook op te stappen als voorzitter. In het seizoen 2005/06 degradeert de club naar de Football League One.
In het seizoen 2006/07 wordt Willie Donachie de nieuwe trainer van Millwall FC, na een miserabele start. Millwall FC speelt een fantastische terugronde, maar komt 9 puntjes tekort voor de play-offs. Het eindigde het seizoen met 66 punten op 138 in het 3-puntensysteem. Millwall FC haalde 2 versterkingen tijdens de winterstop, één daarvan was de verloren zoon, Neil Harris. Millwall FC eindigt uiteindelijk op een 10e plaats. Darren Byfield werd topschutter van Millwall FC, met 16 doelpunten.
Millwall FC eindigde het seizoen 2007/08 op een 17e plaats met 52 punten. Gary Alexander werd topschutter met 8 doelpunten. Millwall heeft tot 2 wedstrijden van het einde moeten strijden tegen de degradatie, nadat de ambitie aan het begin van het seizoen de promotie was. Millwall FC stelde dit seizoen 40 spelers op. Kenny Jackett werd de nieuwe trainer van Millwall FC. Hij nam over van Willie Donachie.
