- Mighty Servant 2 was a 29,000-ton semi-submersible, heavy-lift ship operated by Dockwise. The ship drew worldwide attention in 1988 for transporting the mine-damaged USS Samuel B. Roberts from Dubai to Newport, Rhode Island. The ship was built in 1983 by Oshima Shipbuilding Co. Ltd. in Ōshima, Japan, for Dutch shipping firm Wijsmuller Transport, which merged in 1993 with Dock Express Shipping to become Breda-based offshore heavy lifting group Dockwise Shipping B.V. The vessel capsized in 1999 and was scrapped in 2000. (en)

Il faisait partie de la classe des Mighty Servant. Le Mighty Servant 2 a principalement transporté des plates-formes pétrolières, mais s'est illustré en transportant la frégate américaine USS Samuel B. Roberts. Il a fait naufrage le 2 novembre 1999. - De Mighty Servant 2 was een half-afzinkbaar heavy-lift schip dat in 1983 werd gebouwd door voor het Nederlandse bedrijf , tegenwoordig Dockwise. Net als haar zusterschepen was de Mighty Servant 2 bedoeld voor het vervoeren van zeer zware transporten zoals booreilanden. Door de mogelijkheid het dek af te zinken kon de lading makkelijk aan boord worden gedreven, waarna de Mighty Servant 2 zijn ballasttanks weer leegpompte en de lading aan boord stond. Het bekendste project van de Mighty Servant 2 was het vervoeren van de van Dubai naar Newport, USA. Het dek werd speciaal aangepast om het fregat te kunnen vervoeren. Op 2 november 1999 ging het vlak bij het Indonesische Singkep fout tijdens het vervoeren van een productiemodule en kapseisde de Mighty Servant 2 inclusief lading. Na onderzoek bleek een niet in kaart gebrachte rots de oorzaak van het ongeluk te zijn. Het schip bleek total loss, daarnaast waren er ook vijf doden te betreuren, onder wie twee Nederlanders. (nl)
