- Michael E. Zimmerman (born July 7, 1946) is an American integral theorist whose interests include Buddhism, Martin Heidegger, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Ken Wilber. After a year as assistant professor at Denison University, he was Professor of Philosophy at Tulane University from 1975 to 2005, and Director of the Institute for Humanities and the Arts at Tulane. He is also affiliated with the Integral Institute. Together with Sean Esbjörn-Hargens, he wrote a book on integral ecology, Integral Ecology: Uniting Multiple Perspectives on the Natural World. Since 2006, Zimmerman has been a faculty member at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Zimmerman is a specialist concerning 20th century German philosopher Martin Heidegger and has published a number of books and peer-reviewed articles on Heidegger's work, and on other conventional philosophical topics.
