- Die Messerschmitt Me 309Z war ein Entwurf eines deutschen Schnellbombers bzw. Zerstörers gegen Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges. Analog zur Messerschmitt Bf 109 Z-Reihe sollten bei der Me 609 zwei Rümpfe der Messerschmitt Me 309 zusammengebaut werden. Die Grundintention war eine Vereinfachung einer Neukonstruktion bzw. eine Vereinheitlichung der verschiedenen Baumuster. So hätten bei diesem Projekt zahlreiche Elemente der vorhandenen Me 309 übernommen werden können, lediglich die verbindenden Tragflächen- und Leitwerksteile hätte neu konstruiert werden müssen. Als Bewaffnung waren diverse Maschinenkanonen sowie bis zu 2000 kg Bomben vorgesehen. Die berechnete Höchstgeschwindigkeit wurde mit 720 km/h angegeben. Da die Entwicklung der Me 309 bereits nach 4 Prototypen eingestellt wurde, ist dieses Projekt nicht über die Entwurfsphase hinaus gekommen. Einige Quellen beziehen sich auf die Me 309Z als Me 609, aber dies wird nicht durch Messerschmitt-Firmendokumente bestätigt, die zeigen, dass Me 609 eine Deckbezeichnung für testbereite Beispiele der Messerschmitt Me 262 aus der Spätkriegszeit war. Destinato, come il Bf 110, a ricoprire una serie di ruoli diversi in virtù dei diversi equipaggiamenti bellici delle versioni programmate, dal zerstörer, al bombardiere veloce fino al caccia notturno, fu sostanzialmente un incrocio tra un Bf 109, caratterizzato dalla struttura a doppia fusoliera, da altissime velocità, grazie anche alla potenza dei motori. Il Me 309 Zw non lasciò mai il tavolo da disegno, venendo scartato alla fine del 1942 a favore del Me 109 Zw. Alcune fonti si riferiscono al Me 309 Zw come Me 609, ma i documenti RLM mostrano che non era così e che Me 609 era una designazione di copertina per Me 262 di fine guerra, pronto per la produzione. - Messerschmitt Me 609 – projekt samolotu, którego główna koncepcja polegała na połączeniu dwóch myśliwców Me 309 w taki sposób, by powstał ciężki myśliwiec. Projekt powstał jako odpowiedź na określone w 1941 roku przez niemieckie ministerstwo lotnictwa wymagania dotyczące nowego myśliwca, który mógłby zastąpić samolot Bf 110. Przy projektowaniu Me 609 dla oszczędności czasu i środków wykorzystano jako podstawę zarzucony projekt samolotu Me 309. Niemal równocześnie w wytwórni Messerschmitta prowadzone były badania nad łączeniem w pary innych pojedynczych samolotów – tak powstały projekty dwukładłubowych Bf 109 Zwiling (połączenie dwóch samolotów Bf 109). Zgodnie z planami Me 609 miały tworzyć dwa samoloty Me 309 połączone nowym centropłatem, do którego w czasie lotu miało być wciąganie podwozie. Ponieważ projekt zachowywał dla każdego kadłuba trzykołowe podwozie Me 309, powstawał samolot o niezbyt fortunnej sześciokołowej konstrukcji, która mogła owocować dużą awaryjnością. Dla samolotu przewidywano zastosowanie w roli ciężkiego myśliwca lub małego, szybkiego bombowca, jednak ze względu na zaawansowane prace nad odrzutowym Me 262 stawiały pod znakiem zapytania sensowność kontynuowania badań nad samolotem z silnikiem tłokowym. Jakkolwiek badania nad dwukadłubowymi Me 409 czy Me 609 nie wyszły w zasadzie poza stadium projektu, trzeba zaznaczyć, iż w okresie II wojny światowej w USA powstał samolot w takim samym układzie: North American P-82 Twin Mustang, który co prawda nie wszedł do użycia przed końcem wojny, był jednak wykorzystywany podczas wojny w Korei, jako jeden z ostatnich myśliwców o napędzie tłokowym, wykorzystywany przez lotnictwo USA.
