- Meralgia paraesthetica (auch Leistentunnel-, Inguinaltunnel- oder Bernhardt-Roth-Syndrom und Bernhardtsche Lähmung) ist ein Nervenkompressionssyndrom bzw. eine Entzündung (Neuritis) des den seitlichen Teil des Oberschenkels versorgenden Hautnerven Nervus cutaneus femoris lateralis im Bereich des Leistenbands. Die Meralgia paraesthetica ist eine isolierte Einengung (Kompression) des rein sensiblen Nervus cutaneus femoris lateralis. Dieser Nerv entstammt dem Plexus lumbalis und verlässt das Becken dicht an der Spina iliaca anterior superior und dringt hier durch die Fasern des Leistenbandes, wo er leicht eingeengt werden kann. Man spricht dann vom Inguinaltunnel-Syndrom, welches das dritthäufigste Engpass-Syndrom ist. Die Benennung erfolgte nach dem deutschen Neurologen Martin Bernhardt und dem russischen Neurologen . (de)

En general, hay hiperestesia o disestesia en el área correspondiente, y a veces zonas de anestesia. No existen trastornos motores, ni alteraciones de los reflejos osteotendinosos. Los síntomas pueden empeorar si el paciente se mantiene de pie o camina durante periodos prolongados, aunque, en ocasiones, cuando es obeso, la posición de sentado es la que mayor dolor ocasiona. Los factores que contribuyen a este cuadro son el embarazo, la obesidad y la diabetes mellitus. Excepcionalmente la meralgia puede ser bilateral. (es)
