Nevinson was one of the suffragettes who split from the Women's Social and Political Union (WSPU) in 1907 to form the Women's Freedom League (WFL). She wrote many articles for the WFL journal, The Vote, and also wrote many suffrage pamphlets including A History of the Suffrage Movement: 1908-1912, Ancient Suffragettes and The Spoilt Child and the Law. Nevinson was also the first woman Justice of the Peace in London as well as serving as a Poor Law Guardian. (en)
- Margaret Wynne Nevinson, née Jones (11 janvier 1858 – 8 juin 1932) est une militante féministe et pacifiste britannique d'origine galloise, également journaliste, écrivaine, travailleuse sociale, juge de paix et femme politique londonienne. Fille d'un prêtre anglican, fervente chrétienne, elle consacre la majeure partie de sa vie à l'aide sociale dans les quartiers pauvres de l'East End, d'abord aux côtés des philanthropes Samuel et Henrietta Barnett, puis en tant que Poor Law Guardian. Son investissement féministe en faveur du droit de vote des femmes l'amène à s'impliquer dans nombre d'organisations suffragistes, principalement la Women's Freedom League dont elle est l'une des fondatrices. Le droit de vote des femmes obtenu, elle devient l'une des premières femmes juge de paix d'Angleterre. Elle écrit pour la presse suffragiste (The Vote) ou socialiste (The Guardian). Ses nouvelles, parmi les premières œuvres réalistes du Royaume-Uni, exposent la dureté de la condition des classes laborieuses londoniennes, notamment pour les femmes mariées. Elle écrit également des textes autobiographiques, teintés d'amertume envers le déroulement de son existence et son mariage insatisfaisant avec le correspondant de guerre Henry Woodd Nevinson.
