- Algeria has submitted films for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1969. The award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. It was not created until the 1956 Academy Awards, in which a competitive Academy Award of Merit, known as the Best Foreign Language Film Award, was created for non-English speaking films, and has been given annually since. As of 2021, four Algerian films have been nominated for Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, and one of these films, Costa-Gavras' Z, has won the award. The other two directors to have Algerian films accepted as nominees are Ettore Scola and Rachid Bouchareb. Scola's Le Bal was accepted as a nominee at the 56th Academy Awards. Bouchareb has had three films nominated: Dust of Life at the 68th Academy Awards, Days of Glory at the 79th Academy Awards and Outside the Law at the 83rd Academy Awards. (en)
- Cet article présente la liste des longs métrages algériens proposés à l'Oscar du meilleur film en langue étrangère depuis 1970, lors de la 42e cérémonie des Oscars. L'Algérie a ainsi proposé dix-sept films pour concourir dans cette catégorie ; parmi eux, cinq ont obtenu des nominations aux Oscars dont un seul, Z (1970), a remporté le prix. L'Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) qui remet les Oscars du cinéma invite depuis 1957 les industries cinématographiques de tous les pays du monde à proposer le meilleur film de l'année pour concourir à l'Oscar du meilleur film en langue étrangère (autre que l'anglais). Le comité du prix supervise le processus et valide les films soumis. Par la suite, un vote à bulletin secret détermine les cinq nommés dans la catégorie, avant que le film lauréat ne soit élu par l'ensemble des membres de l'AMPAS, et que l'Oscar ne soit décerné lors de la cérémonie annuelle.
