- Der Lancia Flavia ist ein Fahrzeug der oberen Mittelklasse, das vom Hersteller Lancia zwischen Herbst 1960 bis Ende 1970 gebaut wurde. Der Flavia war der erste italienische Serienwagen mit Vorderradantrieb und mit Scheibenbremsen an allen vier Rädern. Das unter Antonio Fessia entwickelte Fahrzeug hatte ein Zweikreis-Bremssystem und wurde von einem Leichtmetall-Boxermotor angetrieben, der vor der Vorderachse platziert war. Für den Hersteller stellte der Flavia aus mehreren Gründen einen Wendepunkt in der Firmengeschichte dar: Es war das erste Fahrzeug, das die bis zum Jahr 2011 andauernde Tradition des Frontantriebs bei Lancia einläutete. Erstmals verwendete Lancia einen Boxermotor und damit seit 1919 wieder einen Motor in einen Pkw, bei dem die Zylinder nicht V-förmig angeordnet waren. Gleichzeitig war der Flavia, zusammen mit dem Fulvia, der letzte Pkw, der von Lancia völlig eigenständig und vor der Übernahme durch Fiat entwickelt wurde. Die Formensprache der Limousine galt bereits zu Bauzeiten als konservativ, so dass erst durch das Angebot des 1,8-l-Motors sowie der Einspritzer-Variante 1800 Iniezione das Fahrzeug zu großen Stückzahlen kam. Kurz vor dem Ende der Baureihe folgte noch eine 2,0-l-Maschine als Vergaser- und Einspritzer-Version 2000 Iniezione. (de)
- The Lancia Flavia (Tipo 815/819/820) is an executive car produced by Lancia in Italy from 1961 to 1971. Production continued as the Lancia 2000 from 1971 to 1975. The Flavia was launched with a 1,500 cc engine at the 1960 Turin Motor Show by Lancia and introduced in major European markets during the next twelve months. Coupé and convertible versions developed by Pininfarina and Vignale quickly followed, together with one or two low volume "specials" including a Zagato coupé. Performance improved over the next ten years as the engine sizes increased, progressively, to 2,000 cc. The car remained in production until 1970 when it was updated and renamed the Lancia 2000. The Flavia was named after Via Flavia, Roman road leading from Trieste (Tergeste) to Dalmatia. In 2011, Fiat announced that the Chrysler 200 convertible would be sold in Europe (LHD markets only) by Lancia under the Flavia name from early 2012. In 1977, Singer Peter Gabriel released his first solo album with the cover depicting the artist asleep at the wheel of a 1974 Lancia Flavia. The album is informally referred to as “Car”. (en)

Las versiones cupé y descapotable fueron presentadas al poco tiempo, siendo diseñadas ambas por Pininfarina. Sin embargo una pequeña versión especial del cupé rediseñado por Zagato fue también comercializada. La cilindrada y potencia fueron aumentados progresivamente con las nuevas series pasando de los 1500 cc iniciales hasta los 2000 cc. (es)
