- Kay Bahman or -Wahman (from Middle Persian: 𐭥𐭤𐭥𐭬𐭭 Wahman "good mind") is a mythological figure of Greater Iranian legend and lore. The stock epithet Kai identifies Bahman as one of the Kayanian kings of Iranian oral tradition. The 3rd-6th century Sassanians claimed to descend from Bahman and the Kayanids. This myth was combined with another legend in which the Sassanians were imagined to have descended from the Achaemenids, and in the post-Sassanid period Bahman came to equated with both Artaxerxes I and Cyrus the Great. - Бахман (имя от авестийского божества ; фарси Бахман-Ардашир или Бехмен-Эрдешир) — в иранском эпосе полулегендарный царь Ирана. Фирдоуси упоминает и второе имя Бахмана Ардашир (перс. Артаксеркс), и «длиннорукость» Бахмана (что соответствует прозвищу царя Артаксеркса I у античных авторов), и его брак с дочерью (о чём античные авторы говорят применительно к Артаксерксу II). Согласно «Бундахишну», Вахман-Артештар, сын Спендада и отец Хумай и Сасана, правил 112 лет. Упоминается в так называемом «Бахман-яште» («Занд-и Вохуман-яшт» II 17) как Кай-Ардашир, а также историками ат-Табари, аль-Масуди и другими, а позднее — в сочинении «Бахман-наме» (около 1100 года).
