- Johann Christoph Bach (22 de febrer de 1645 - 26 d'agost de 1693) va ser un violinista i compositor alemany. Se l'hi atribueix la composició de l'ària fúnebre Nun ist alles überwunden. Va néixer a Erfurt el 22 de febrer de 1645. Era fill de Christoph Bach i germà bessó de Johann Ambrosius Bach, el pare de Johann Sebastian Bach. L'any 1671 va aconseguir el càrrec de violinista a la cort del comte de Schwarzbourg-Arnstadt i a les esglésies d'Arnstadt. A partir del 1682 també va aconseguir algun càrrec musical de més prestigi. Va morir a Arnstadt el 26 d'agost de 1693. Varen ser fill seus:

- Johann Christoph Bach (* 22. Februar 1645 in Erfurt; begraben 7. September 1693 in Arnstadt) war der Zwillingsbruder von Johann Ambrosius Bach, dem Vater von Johann Sebastian Bach. Sein Vater war der Stadtmusikant Christoph Bach d. Ä. Johann Christoph erhielt 1671 eine Berufung als Hofmusikus (Violinist) an den Arnstädter Hof. Da es zu Streitigkeiten mit dem Stadtmusikus Gräder kam und auch nach einem Schiedsspruch keine Ruhe eintrat, wurde am 7. Januar 1681 allen Musikern „wegen ... ihrer Uneinigkeit“ gekündigt. Da wegen des kurz darauf erfolgten Todes des Landesherrn alle öffentliche Musik untersagt war, geriet Johann Christoph in große Not. Jedoch erhielt er Anfang 1682 durch den neuen Landesherren eine Wiedereinstellung bei Hofe. Der neue Arbeitgeber Graf Günther von Schwarzburg-Arnstadt scheint mit seinem Hofmusiker sehr zufrieden gewesen zu sein. Zwischen Johann Ambrosius und Johann Christoph Bach muss eine außergewöhnliche Ähnlichkeit bestanden haben. Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach berichtet darüber: „Diese Zwillinge sind vielleicht von dieser Art die einzigen die man weiß. Sie liebten sich aufs äußerste. Sie sahen sich einander so ähnlich, daß sogar ihre Frauen sie nicht unterscheiden konnten. Sie waren ein Wunder für große Herren und für Jedermann, der sie sahe. Sprache, Gesinnung, alles war einerley. Auch in der Musik waren sie nicht zu unterscheiden, sie spielten einerley, sie dachten ihren Vortrag einerley. War einer kranck, so war es auch der andere. - Johann Christoph Bach (22 February 1645 in Erfurt – 7 September [O.S. 28 August] 1693 in Arnstadt) was a German musician of the Baroque period. He was the third son of Christoph Bach and the twin brother of Johann Ambrosius Bach. At the age of 16, he was orphaned due to the death of his father and was sent to Erfurt to live with his uncle Johannes Bach. Shortly thereafter, Johann was appointed to the town band his father had belonged to. In 1671, Johann Christoph received an appointment as court violinist at the Arnstadt court. Disputes arose within the Stadmusikus Gräder (city musicians) due to Bach's frequent tendency to anger the older musicians, and he was promptly fired. Shortly after, the sovereign Anton Günther I died, which induced a ban on all public music. Bach found himself in great need. However, at the beginning of 1682, he was reinstated at court by the new ruler Count Günther von Schwarzburg - Arnstadt. He was the uncle of Johann Sebastian Bach, and is credited with introducing him to the organ. He married Martha Elisabeth Eisentraut (1654-1719). In 1693, Johann died at age 48. The funeral aria Nun ist alles überwunden is commonly attributed to him. (en)
