- Le festival de Sanremo 1997 est la 47e édition du festival de Sanremo (Festival della canzone italiana di Sanremo) qui a eu lieu au théâtre Ariston à Sanremo. Il s'est déroulé du 18 au 22 février 1997. Le festival a été sélectionné comme moyen de sélectionner la chanson représentant l'Italie au Concours Eurovision de la chanson. - The Sanremo Music Festival 1997 was the 47th annual Sanremo Music Festival, held at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo, province of Imperia, in the late February 1997 and broadcast by Rai 1. The show was presented by Mike Bongiorno (in his eleventh and final hosting of the Festival), supported by Piero Chiambretti and Valeria Marini. Composers Pino Donaggio and Giorgio Moroder and lyricist Carla Vistarini served as the artistic directors. The winners of the Big Artists section were the pop duo Jalisse with the song "Fiumi di parole". As a result, the duo was eligible to represent Italy in the Eurovision Song Contest 1997, in which they eventually ranked fourth. It was a surprise return for Italy after having sat out the contest since 1993, as well as the first Italian entry chosen through Sanremo since 1972. They would withdraw following the 1997 contest and wouldn't return until 2011. Paola e Chiara won the "Newcomers" section with the song "Amici come prima", and Patty Pravo won the Mia Martini Critics Award with the song "E dimmi che non vuoi morire". For the newcomers, only the winner was revealed; for the big artists section, initially only the first three positions were announced, while the complete final ranking was disclosed only several weeks after the end of the festival. In this edition it was introduced a "Quality Jury", responsible for rewarding the best music, best lyrics and best arrarrangement. The 1997 jury was headed by Luciano Pavarotti and also consisted of Bill Conti, Gino Paoli, Nicola Piovani and Mario Missiroli (who replaced Gabriele Salvatores who suffered a flu). Starting from the second night, the journalist Bruno Vespa hosted DopoFestival, a talk show about the Festival with the participation of singers, politicians and journalists. (en)
- Il quarantasettesimo Festival di Sanremo si svolse al Teatro Ariston di Sanremo dal 18 al 22 febbraio 1997 con la conduzione di Mike Bongiorno (alla sua undicesima e ultima edizione del Festival, da cui mancava dal 1979), affiancato da Piero Chiambretti (vestito da angelo ed appeso ad un filo per quattro serate e da diavolo nella serata finale) e Valeria Marini. La regia fu curata da , la scenografia da e la direzione d'orchestra da Gianfranco Lombardi. La direzione artistica fu affidata a Carla Vistarini, Pino Donaggio e Giorgio Moroder. Responsabile Rai fu Mario Maffucci. L'edizione fu vinta dai Jalisse con il brano Fiumi di parole per la categoria Campioni e da Paola & Chiara con il brano Amici come prima per le Nuove proposte. La vittoria dei Jalisse arrivò a sorpresa, essendo gli stessi praticamente sconosciuti al grande pubblico, ed il singolo non ottenne un significativo riscontro commerciale, malgrado il buon piazzamento (quarto su 25 partecipanti) al successivo Eurovision Song Contest 1997, tanto che il duo vincitore, pur proseguendo la propria carriera, non riuscì ad affermarsi pienamente nella scena musicale italiana di primo piano. Ebbero ottimi riscontri di vendite sia Patty Pravo con ...E dimmi che non vuoi morire, che vinse anche il Premio della critica, e sia Nek con la canzone Laura non c'è, divenuta un vero e proprio tormentone. Diverso fu il destino di Paola & Chiara, il cui brano ottenne un ottimo riscontro di vendite e proiettò al successo il duo, la cui notorietà sarebbe perdurata per tutto il primo decennio del nuovo secolo. Si fecero notare anche due giovani cantautori: Alex Baroni con la canzone Cambiare, e Niccolò Fabi con il brano Capelli, vincitore del Premio della critica «Mia Martini» per le Nuove proposte. Sempre tra gli esordienti, passò in sordina la partecipazione di un certo Mikimix, ovvero Michele Salvemini, che avrebbe raggiunto il successo solo alcuni anni più tardi e con un altro nome d'arte: si tratta, infatti, di Caparezza.
