- Internationale Kontaktgruppen sind „informelle, nicht ständige internationale Gremien, die ad hoc geschaffen werden, um internationale Akteure bei der Bewältigung einer Friedens- und Sicherheitskrise in einem bestimmten Staat oder einer Region zu koordinieren. Sie werden von Staaten und/oder Internationalen Organisationen/Regionalen Organisationen gegründet und gebildet. Sie haben keine eigenen Verwaltungsstrukturen, sind aber offiziell angekündigt und treffen sich regelmäßig“. Seit 1977 wurden mindestens 27 Internationale Kontaktgruppen gegründet. Beispiele für solche Gruppen sind:

* Kontaktgruppe (Jugoslawienkriege) (1994)
* Internationale Kontaktgruppe für Liberia (1996+2002)

- International Contact Groups are "informal, non-permanent international bodies that are created ad hoc, with the purpose of coordinating international actors in their aim of managing a peace and security crisis in a specific state or region (single-issue). They are founded and formed out of by states and/or International Organizations/Regional Organizations. They do not have own administrative structures, but are official announced and meet periodically." Since 1977, at least 27 ICGs have been formed. Examples of such groups include:

- Les Groupes international de contact sont des organismes internationaux informels, non permanents, créés ad hoc, dans le but de coordonner les acteurs internationaux dans leur objectif de gérer une crise de paix et de sécurité dans un état ou une région (single-issue) spécifique. Elles sont fondées et formées par des États et/ou des organisations internationales/organisations régionales. Ils n'ont pas de structures administratives propres, mais sont annoncés officiellement et se réunissent périodiquement. Depuis 1977, au moins 27 GIC ont été formés.
