- Die Internationale Vereinigung Sport- und Freizeiteinrichtungen (IAKS) ist eine gemeinnützige Vereinigung auf dem Gebiet der Sportbauten und Freizeiteinrichtungen. 1965 wurde der Internationaler Arbeitskreis Sportstättenbau in Köln gegründet. Hieraus entstand der heutige Verein. Sie ist die einzige Non-Profit-Organisation, die sich weltweit mit Themen des Sportstättenbaus befasst und wurde aus diesem Grunde vom Internationalen Olympischen Komitee als „Recognised Organisation“ anerkannt. Die Präsidenten waren (Stand 2016): Willi Weyer (1965–1985), Günter Heidecke (1985–1990), Erich Schumann (1990–1997), Stephan Holthoff-Pförtner (1997–2015) und Stefan Kannewischer (seit 2015). Es existieren sieben Sektionen: Deutschland, Japan, Lateinamerika/Karibik, Polen, Russland, Schweiz und Spanien (Stand 2016). Dem Verein gehören rund 1.000 Mitglieder in 110 Ländern an, die sich auf alle Kontinente verteilen. (de)

The IAKS was founded in Cologne in 1965. It is the only non-profit organization concerned globally with the subject of sports facility development and has therefore been awarded the status of Recognized Organization by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The IAKS has about 1,000 members in a current 110 countries with seven sections worldwide. These are Germany, Japan, Latin America/Caribbean, Poland, Russia, Switzerland and Spain (status 2016). (en)

Fondée en 1965 à Cologne, l’IAKS est la seule organisation à but non lucratif qui, à l'échelle mondiale, consacre toute son attention à des thèmes en rapport avec la construction d’équipements de sport, d’où son statut d’organisation reconnue par le Comité international olympique (CIO).
