- Die Independent Democrats (ID) waren eine südafrikanische Partei. Sie wurde am 21. Juni 2003 gegründet, nachdem Patricia de Lille ihre frühere Partei, den Pan Africanist Congress, nach internen Zwistigkeiten verlassen hatte. Die Partei verstand sich als sozialdemokratisch und bekannte sich zur Marktwirtschaft. Sie war stark von der häufig als charismatisch bezeichneten Person de Lilles geprägt und griff Probleme wie Korruption und Aids auf, bei denen sie dem regierenden African National Congress (ANC) Versäumnisse vorwarf. Am 15. August 2010 gab die Partei bekannt, sich mit der Democratic Alliance (DA) zu vereinen, um ein stärkeres Gegengewicht zum ANC zu bilden. Sie ging im Vorfeld der Parlamentswahlen 2014 in der DA auf. (de)
- The Independent Democrats (ID) was a South African political party, formed by former Pan Africanist Congress member Patricia de Lille in 2003 via floor crossing legislation. The party's platform was premised on opposition to corruption, with a mixture of liberal principles and strategies for improving equity. The party's strongholds were the Northern and Western Cape. On 15 August 2010, the party announced plans to merge with the larger Democratic Alliance as part of a plan to challenge the governing African National Congress (ANC). The party disbanded as a separate political organization in 2014. (en)

Fue fundado por Patricia de Lille, hasta entonces miembro del (APC). Sus principales bastiones electorales fueron Cabo del Norte y Cabo Occidental. En la década de 2010, comenzó a negociar con Alianza Democrática, principal partido de la oposición sudafricana, para fusionarse dentro del partido y fortalecerlo de cara a los comicios de 2014. Finalmente, ese año, la fusión se completó, y el partido dejó de existir. (es)
