Húsavík (Danish: Husevig) is an old village located on the east of the island of Sandoy, in Húsavík Municipality, Faroe Islands. In the centre of Húsavík there is a ruin called ‘Heimi á Garði’. It is said to be the remains of a farm that was built by the 'Lady of the House in Húsavík'. She was a strict and wealthy lady who lived in the 14th century. She owned all the land in Húsavík and also had some properties in Norway. Legend has it that she buried two servants alive. It is also said that she got all her wealth when she sold a golden horn to the King. The story goes that she found the golden horn in the ground, after dreaming of its location.

Dort lassen sich Siedlungsreste sowie Spuren einer Kirche und eines Friedhofs nachweisen. Es gibt auch eine Sage, gemäß der das Dorf im 14. Jahrhundert durch den Schwarzen Tod ausgelöscht und danach auf dem Ostufer des Bachs wieder aufgebaut wurde. Eine sehr reiche und tüchtige Frau, Hústrúin (die Hausherrin) genannt, war im Dorf zu Hause. Laut der Sage haben sie und ihr Mann das Dorf wieder aufgebaut. Der Steinwall, mit dem sie den Friedhof eingefriedet hat, ist erhalten geblieben, was ebenfalls auf die Steinwände der Heuscheune und den die Häuser umgebenden gepflasterten Hof zutrifft. Dies gilt als Zeugnis ihrer Fähigkeiten. Diese Stätte heißt Heimi á Garði. Die Dorfkirche stammt von 1863. Im Ort gibt es ein ca. 130 Jahre altes, nunmehr unter Denkmalschutz stehendes ehemaliges Wohnhaus mit Grassodendach zu sehen: á Breyt. Es ist ein Museum und Filiale des färöischen Nationalmuseums. An der Hafenmole steht ein Relief von Tróndur Patursson. Der breite Sandstrand von Húsavík gehört zu den für Grindwalfang zugelassenen Orten. (de)
