- حظت حقوق الإنسان في أوروبا بقدر من الاهتمام. ومع ذلك، توجد العديد من انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان مثل التعامل مع اللاجئين، ووحشية الشرطة. أشار التقرير السنوي لمنظمة العفو الدولية لعام 2012 إلى وجود بعض المشاكل في العديد من الدول الأوروبية. كانت بلاروسيا واحدة من أكثر الدول انتهاكًا لحقوق الإنسان في أوروبا، ووفقًا لصحيفة الأكونوميست، وهي الدولة الوحيدة في أوروبا التي تحكمها حكومة استبدادية على عكس باقي الدول الأوروبية التي تُعتبر حكوماتها على قدر من الديمقراطية، تتراوح ما بين الديمقراطية الكاملة والمعيبة والمختلطة (الهجينة). على عكس الدول الأعضاء، لم ينضم الاتحاد الأوروبي نفسه حتى الآن إلى اتفاقية حقوق الإنسان لعام 2011. - Human rights in Europe are generally upheld. However, several human rights infringements exist, ranging from the treatment of asylum seekers to police brutality. The 2012 Amnesty International Annual Report points to problems in several European countries. One of the most accused is Belarus, the only country in Europe that, according to The Economist, has an authoritarian government. All other European countries are considered to have "some form of democratic government", having either the "full democracy", "flawed democracy", or a "hybrid regime". Unlike its member states, the European Union itself has not yet joined the Convention on Human Rights as of 2011. (en)
- Les droits de l'homme en Europe sont généralement respectés. Cependant, de nombreuses atteintes à ces droits de l'Homme existent, allant du traitement envers les réfugiés à la violence policière. Le rapport annuel d'Amnesty International de 2012 soulève des problèmes dans plusieurs pays européens. Un des plus accusés est la Biélorussie, le seul pays d'Europe qui, selon The Economist, aurait un gouvernement dictatorial. Tous les autres pays européens sont considérés comme ayant une « forme de gouvernement démocratique », c'est-à-dire soit une « démocratie totale », une « démocratie imparfaite » ou un « régime hybride ». À la différence de ses États membres, l'Union Européenne n'a pas encore rejoint la Convention des Droits de l'Homme, à compter de 2011. (fr)
