- Der Hochkopf ist ein bewaldeter Höhenrücken nördlich von Todtmoos im südlichen Hochschwarzwald. Der Gipfel zählt mit 1263,5 m ü. NHN zu den 20 höchsten Erhebungen von Baden-Württemberg. Über den Berg verläuft die Grenze zwischen Todtmoos und dem Todtnauer Stadtteil Präg und damit auch zwischen den Landkreisen Lörrach und Waldshut. Der Hochkopf begrenzt als ostwestlich verlaufender Bergkamm den Präger Gletscherkessel auf dessen Südseite. Über den dorthin abfallenden Karwänden sind die Bergkämme teilweise gratartig zugeschärft. Das Gebiet um den Hochkopf gilt als besonders ruhig. Auf dem Gipfel des Hochkopf wurde 1925 ein kleiner Aussichtsturm namens Hochkopfturm errichtet. Südwestlich des Gipfels liegt der Weißenbachsattel (1082 m), über den die L 151 als Verbindung vom Wiesental ins Wehratal führt. Hier verläuft auch der Fernwanderweg Westweg (östliche Variante) des Schwarzwaldvereins; das hier gelegene Hochkopfhaus, früher ein Wandererheim des Schwarzwaldvereins, ist heute das private Hotel Auerhahn, ein mögliches Etappenziel des Fernwanderwegs. Bei Inversionswetterlagen bietet sich von hier oben ein freier Blick auf die Alpen von der Zugspitze bis zum Mont Blanc. Der Hochkopf wird daher auch als Alternative zu den häufig überlaufenen Gipfeln von Feldberg und Belchen aufgesucht. (de)
- The Hochkopf is a wooded ridge north of the village of Todtmoos in the southern part of the High Black Forest. At 1,263.4 m above sea level (NHN) its summit is one of the 20 highest points in the German state of Baden-Württemberg. The boundary between Todtmoos and the village of in the borough of Todtnau runs over the mountain. The Hochkopf forms an east-west mountain ridge that forms the southern side of the . Above the walls of the cirque the mountain ridges are as sharp as aretes in places. The region around the Hochkopf is especially quiet and peaceful. On the summit of the Hochkopf a small observation tower, the Hochkopf Tower (Hochkopfturm) was built in 1925. Further down the mountain on the West Way (eastern route) stands the Hochkopfhaus, formerly a hiking hut owned by the Black Forest Club, but today a private hotel. During weather inversions here there are clear views of the Alps from the Zugspitze to Mont Blanc. The Hochkopf is thus frequented as an alternative to the often overrun peaks of Feldberg and Belchen. (en)
