- Hispanophonie ist die Bezeichnung für den spanischsprachigen Raum. Der Begriff wurde analog der Bezeichnung Frankophonie für den französischsprachigen Raum gebildet. Im Gegensatz zur Frankophonie ist die Hispanophonie kein politisches Konzept, sondern umfasst alle Sprecher des Spanischen. Se ha difundido a través del mundo, sobre todo en América; y tiene una menor influencia en la Antártida (Base Esperanza y Villa Las Estrellas); Europa (España), África (Guinea Ecuatorial) y Asia (Filipinas. Por otra parte, su influencia en Oceanía es inexistente.Cuenta con aproximadamente 463 millones de hablantes nativos, a los cuales se suman 75 millones de personas con competencia limitada y 22 millones de estudiantes, lo que hace un total de 580 millones de hablantes en todo el mundo. Estos datos hacen del español la cuarta lengua del mundo por número de hablantes después del mandarín, el inglés y el hindi, y la tercera por su uso en la comunicación internacional, producción de información en los medios masivos de comunicación y usuarios de Internet. - Hispanophone and Hispanic refers to anything relating to the Spanish language (the Hispanosphere). In a cultural, rather than merely linguistic sense, the notion of "Hispanophone" goes further than the above definition. The Hispanic culture is the legacy of the vast and prolonged Spanish Empire, and so the term can refer to people whose cultural background is primarily associated with Spain, regardless of racial or geographical differences. The whole sense of identity of the Hispanic population and the Hispanophones is sometimes referred by the term Hispanidad (Hispanicity). They are also terms used to refer to speakers of the Spanish language and the Spanish-speaking world. The Spanish-speaking regions are: Spain, Hispanic America, Equatorial Guinea, Western Sahara, the Canary Islands, Philippines and the Easter Island. The Southwest of the United States and Guam are also considered part of the Hispanosphere. The terms are derived from the Latin word Hispanicus ("Spanish") which refers to anything pertaining to the Roman province of Hispania ("Spain"). In addition to the general definition of Hispanophone, some groups in the Hispanic world make a distinction between Castilian-speaking and Spanish-speaking, with the former term denoting the speakers of the Spanish language—also known as Castilian—and the latter the speakers of the Spanish or Hispanic languages (i.e. the languages of Spain or the languages of the Hispanic nations).
