Harvard is a town in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The town is located 25 miles west-northwest of Boston, in eastern Massachusetts. A farming community settled in 1658 and incorporated in 1732, it has been home to several non-traditional communities, such as Harvard Shaker Village and the utopian transcendentalist center Fruitlands. It is also home to St. Benedict Abbey, a traditional Catholic monastery. Today it is a residential town noted for its excellent public schools, with its students consistently ranking in the state's top ten test results in English and math. The population was 6,851 at the 2020 census. The official seal of the town depicts the old town public library on The Common prior to renovations that removed the front steps.

Im Ortsteil Still River gibt es die St. Benedict Abtei, ein Kloster, in dem Priester und Brüder leben. Harvard grenzt an die Gemeinden Littleton, Boxborough, Stow, , , und . In Harvard wurde 1791 die erste Shakersiedlung in Massachusetts gegründet. Es war die zweite Shakergemeinschaft in den USA. Da die Mitgliedszahlen nach einem Höhepunkt 1850 immer weiter zurückgingen, wurde sie 1917 aufgelöst und die Gebäude verkauft. Im Jahre 1843 gab es ein Siedlungsprojekt von Amos Bronson Alcott, der der Bewegung des Transzendentalismus angehörte. Es dauerte jedoch nur ein gutes halbes Jahr bis zum Januar 1844. Das Fruitland Museum thematisiert dieses Ereignis. Der Roman Little Women von Louisa May Alcott, eine Tochter von Amos Bronson Alcott, beruht teilweise auf ihren Erinnerungen an diese Zeit. (de)
