His output was prolific and he was the foremost racehorse portraitist of his time: his style has been described as being "strikingly modern... when compared with many of his contemporaries". - Harry Hall (1816 - 22 avril 1882) est un peintre équestre anglais et plus particulièrement le portraitiste des chevaux de course majeurs de son époque. Sa production est prolifique et toujours sur demande des propriétaires du cheval. Son style est décrit comme moderne comparé avec beaucoup de ses contemporains. Il est né à Cambridge au milieu de la deuxième décennie du XIXe siècle. Il apparait tout d'abord comme un artiste des Tattersalls, travaillant sur leurs publications; principalement pour British Racehorses et The Sporting Review. Il devient ensuite artiste en chef à The Field. Il produit un grand volume d'œuvres, dont beaucoup sont gravés. The Sporting Magazine publie 114 lithographies par Hall. Il a aussi travaillé pour l'Illustrated London News. (fr)
