- Founded in 1928 at the instigation of the insurance broker and of the painters Anto-Carte and Louis Buisseret, the Groupe Nervia was a Belgian artistic circle, the purpose of which was to foster Walloon art, obscured by the Flemish Expressionism of the Laethem-Saint-Martin School, by supporting young talented artists of Hainaut. It included, in addition to Anto-Carte, eight other painters: Louis Buisseret, Frans Depooter, Léon Devos, , Pierre Paulus, , and . Nervia's art claims a Latin essence and is more realistic, lyric and intimist than their northern neighbors’. In addition to their obvious skills, Nervia's artists refused avant-garde at all costs, deeply studied other artists, and expressed a sort of neo-humanism through themes taken from everyday and family life, treated with harmony and idealism. Twenty exhibitions were organized between 1928 and 1938, together with other guest artists (Andrée Bosquet, , , , Geo Verbanck, Fernand Wéry and ). Nervia stood out at the Salon of Ghent in 1933 and 1938 and successfully participated in the first Congrès Culturel Wallon held in Charleroi. Seven other exhibitions were organized between 1946 and 1978, including an itinerant exhibition on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Group's creation. Nervia was also honored by a retrospective in the Art Museum of Mons in 2002. (en)

- Il Gruppo Nervia era un circolo di artisti belgi fondato nel 1928 dal pittore . Il circolo si proponeva di sostenere giovani artisti locali e in particolare valorizzare l'arte dei Valloni, offuscata dall'espressionismo dei Fiamminghi di Laethem-Saint-Martin. Del circolo fecero parte, oltre ad Anto Carte, , Frans Depooter, Léon Devos, , , , e . La loro arte è d'ispirazione latina, ed è più realistica, più lirica e più intimista di quella dei loro vicini nordici. Essi hanno qualità tecniche evidenti, rifiutano l'avanguardia ad oltranza, hanno studiato parecchi altri artisti ed esprimono una forma di attraverso temi tratti dalla vita quotidiana e familiare, trattati con armonia ed idealismo. Tra il 1928 ed il 1938 vengono organizzate venti mostre a cui parteciperanno anche altri artisti (Andrée Bosquet, , , , , et ). Nervia si distingue al Salone di Gand nel 1933 e nel 1938 e partecipa con successo al primo Congresso Culturale Vallone a Charleroi. Tra il 1946 ed il 1978, verranno organizzate altre sette mostre, di cui una itinerante, in occasione del cinquantesimo anniversario della sua creazione. Nel 2002, il Museo delle Belle Arti di Mons ha reso omaggio al Gruppo Nervia attraverso una retrospettiva. (it)
- De kunstenaarsgroep Nervia ontstond in 1928 tijdens een bijeenkomst van initiatiefnemers bij de Waalse schilder Louis Buisseret, die het jaar nadien directeur van de kunstacademie te Bergen zou worden. Die andere initiatiefnemers waren de Waalse schilder Anto Carte en de niet-schilder . Door steun te verlenen aan jonge beloftevolle Henegouwse schilders, wilde zij de Waalse kunst, die in de schaduw stond van het Vlaamse expressionisme van Sint-Martens-Latem, opwaarderen. De naam Nervia slaat enerzijds op de voor-Romeinse bewoners van de streek, de Nerviërs, en anderzijds is het de titelpagina van het kunsttijdschrift, waarbij Anto Carte redactielid was. De groep telde negen leden: Louis Buisseret, Anto Carte, Frans Depooter, Léon Devos, , Pierre Paulus, , Taf Wallet en . Nervia werd geen vernieuwersbeweging. Men keerde zich eerder af van de al te excessieve avant-gardebewegingen en opteerde voor een herwaardering van het classicisme met hooguit licht kubistische trekken. Binnen een verloop van tien jaar werden een twintigtal tentoonstellingen georganiseerd. Onder de deelnemende niet-leden waren: Andrée Bosquet, , , Elisabeth Ivanovsky, Geo Verbanck, en Ernest Wynants. Aan de Nervia werd in 2002 een retrospectieve gewijd in het Musée des Beaux-Arts te Bergen. (nl)
