  • The Grand Pond also: Castle Park Pond is located in the park east of the main entrance of Castle Ambras in the city area of Innsbruck. The lake was established by the Hapsburgs for rare water birds. The Pond is provided by fresh water due to the Aldranser brook, which also drains the Lake. The Lake has quite a good water quality: B grade. The shores were fenced in to forbid bathing. The muddy bottom and the reed regions protect the birds and give nourishment to them and the fishes. Die Habsburger legten den See seinerzeit an, um seltenen Wasservögeln eine Heimat zu geben. Der Aldranser Bach versorgt den See einerseits mit Frischwasser und andererseits entwässert er diesen auch. Dadurch bleibt dem See eine konstant gute Wasserqualität der Stufe II erhalten. Die Parkverwaltung zäunte seine Ufer ein, da einige den See früher oft verbotenerweise als Badesee benutzt hatten. Der schlammige Seeboden und die Schilfregionen bieten den Vögeln Nahrung und Schutz. (de)
