- El gobernador de Nueva Gales del Sur es el virrey representante del monarca australiano, Isabel II, en el estado de Nueva Gales del Sur. En analogía al gobernador general de Australia a nivel nacional, los gobernadores de los estados australianos realizan funciones constitucionales y ceremoniales a nivel estatal. El gobernador es nombrado por la reina tras su designación por parte del primer ministro de Nueva Gales del Sur, por un periodo no fijo de tiempo, conocido como Al servicio de su majestad, aunque normalmente con una duración de cinco años. El gobernador actual es el general retirado David Hurley, quién sucedió a el 2 de octubre de 2014. - The governor of New South Wales is the viceregal representative of the Australian monarch, King Charles III, in the state of New South Wales. In an analogous way to the governor-general of Australia at the national level, the governors of the Australian states perform constitutional and ceremonial functions at the state level. The governor is appointed by the king on the advice of the premier of New South Wales, and serves in office for an unfixed period of time—known as serving At His Majesty's pleasure—though five years is the general standard of office term. The current governor is retired jurist Margaret Beazley, who succeeded David Hurley on 2 May 2019. The office has its origin in the 18th-century colonial governors of New South Wales upon its settlement in 1788, and is the oldest continuous institution in Australia. The present incarnation of the position emerged with the Federation of Australia and the New South Wales Constitution Act 1902, which defined the viceregal office as the governor acting by and with the advice of the Executive Council of New South Wales. However, the post still ultimately represented the government of the United Kingdom until, after continually decreasing involvement by the British government, the passage in 1942 of the Statute of Westminster Adoption Act 1942 (see Statute of Westminster) and the Australia Act 1986, after which the governor became the direct, personal representative of the Australian sovereign. - Gubernator Nowej Południowej Walii (Governor of New South Wales) – formalnie najwyższe stanowisko we władzy wykonawczej australijskiego stanu Nowa Południowa Walia. W latach 1788-1855 gubernator był najważniejszym urzędnikiem brytyjskiej administracji w tej ówczesnej kolonii i to do niego należała ostateczna decyzja w większości kluczowych spraw. W 1855 Nowa Południowa Walia otrzymała autonomię. Urząd gubernatorski zaczął stopniowo tracić na znaczeniu, realnie najważniejszym politykiem w kolonii stawał się zaś premier. Od 1901 Nowa Południowa Walia jest jednym ze stanów Związku Australijskiego, jednak urząd gubernatora został zachowany. Obecnie gubernator wykonuje na szczeblu stanowym kompetencje analogiczne do tych, które w polityce federalnej przypisane są gubernatorowi generalnemu, nie jest mu jednak w żaden sposób podległy. W szczególności ma prawo powoływania i odwoływania premiera i ministrów rządu stanowego (w praktyce premierem zostaje jednak zawsze przywódca większości w izbie niższej parlamentu stanowego). Nie może natomiast – w przeciwieństwie do gubernatora generalnego – skracać kadencji parlamentu, bowiem obywatele stanu w referendum w 1995 pozbawili go tego uprawnienia. Gubernator ma prawo korzystać ze swych kompetencji samodzielnie jedynie w sytuacjach wyjątkowych, np. w razie poważnego kryzysu politycznego. Ostatni raz taka sytuacja miała miejsce w 1932 roku, kiedy zdymisjonowany został gabinet Jacka Langa. Gubernator jest osobistym przedstawicielem królowej Australii.
