- Gordon Willis (28. května 1931 – 18. května 2014) byl americký kameraman. Byl dlouholetým spolupracovníkem režisérů Francise Forda Coppoly (trilogie Kmotr, 1972–1990) a Woodyho Allena (např. Annie Hallová, Vzpomínky na hvězdný prach a Purpurová růže z Káhiry, 1977–1985). V roce 1980 sám režíroval film Windows, o němž později prohlásil, že šlo o chybu. Později rovněž prohlásil, že jej režírování nebavilo. Jeho posledním filmem byl Tichý nepřítel (1997) režiséra Alana Pakuly, s nímž rovněž spolupracoval již od sedmdesátých let. Zemřel na rakovinu deset dnů před svými 83. narozeninami. (cs)

Hij werkte onder andere mee aan de The Godfather-trilogie, All the President's Men en verscheidene films van Woody Allen, waaronder Annie Hall. Willis werd vooral bekend doordat hij regelmatig onder donkere omstandigheden filmt. Hij hield hier de bijnaam "The Prince of Darkness" aan over. De eerste film waar Willis aan werkte als hoofd cinematografie was End of the Road uit 1970. Zijn meest succesvolle periode uit zijn carrière begon al een jaar later en eindigde rond 1977. De films die hij in die zeven jaar opnam, zijn Klute, , The Godfather, Bad Company, , , The Godfather Part II, The Parallax View, The Drowning Pool, All the President's Men en Annie Hall. Deze twaalf films waren samen goed voor 39 Academy Award-nominaties (19 werden er ook daadwerkelijk gewonnen). De cinematografie van Gordon Willis werd echter in die tijd geen enkele maal genomineerd. Pas in 1984 werd hij voor het eerste genomineerd voor zijn camerawerk in Woody Allens film Zelig. Conhecido por sua propensão de fotografar em condições extremamente escuras, por isso, recebeu o apelido de "O Príncipe da Escuridão", atribuído a ele por seu amigo, Conrad Hall. Outra marca registrada de Gordon Willis é a preferência por filmar no horário mágico, pouco antes do crepúsculo do sol, quando o sol está fraco e cria um fulgor dourado. Willis criou o filtro de cor âmbar, para criar a sensação de imagem envelhecida, para a sequência do jovem Vito, em O Poderoso Chefão: Parte II – vários filmes posteriores, copiaram esta técnica cinematográfica, para demonstrar a época pré-Segunda Guerra Mundial. Willis foi evitado pela academia por diversos anos, deixando de ganhar inúmeras indicações ao Óscar que tinham por este, outras interpretações.
