- Amateur Achievement Award je jedno z devíti ocenění udělovaných každoročně Pacifickou astronomickou společností lidem, kteří dokázali významně přispět astronomii a přitom nejsou profesionálními astronomy. Cena je udělována od roku 1979 a její prestiž je z velké části založena na faktu, že ocenění bývají vybíráni mezi astronomickými amatéry z celého světa. Laureáti obdrží na každoročním slavnostním banketu plaketu a finanční odměnu ve výši 500 amerických dolarů. Kandidáty na ocenění může nominovat kdokoli z astronomické komunity (s výjimkou samotných nominovaných a jejich rodinných příslušníků) a k nominaci ještě musí být přiložena další doporučení. Nominace musí být doručeny Pacifické astronomické společnosti vždy do 15. prosince daného nominačního roku a zůstávají v platnosti po dobu dalších tří let. Vítěze vybírá tzv. Awards Committee, tj. výbor pro udělování ceny, jmenovaný správní radou společnosti. Důvodem udělení ceny mohou být výjimečné pozorovatelské úspěchy amatérských astronomů nebo příspěvky ke zdokonalení pozorovatelské techniky. Výbor má právo ocenění neudělit nikomu z nominovaných, pokud nepovažuje jejich příspěvky astronomii za dostatečně výjimečné, což se již také několikrát stalo. (cs)
- The Gordon Myers Amateur Achievement Award, known until 2018 as the Amateur Achievement Award of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, is one of nine annual astronomical awards managed by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. It recognizes "significant contributions to astronomy or amateur astronomy by those not employed in the field of astronomy in a professional capacity." The contributions can be done in the fields of both observational astronomy or astronomical technologies. The award has been given to amateur astronomers from various countries since 1979 and has become one of the most geographically diverse astronomical awards. Award winners receive a commemorative plaque, which is presented at the Annual Meeting Awards Banquet. The monetary value of the award is US$500. Candidates can be nominated by any member of the astronomical community (with the exception of the nominees themselves and their families) and the nominations should be accompanied by other letters of support. All the nominations have to be delivered to the Astronomical Society of the Pacific by December 15 of the nominating year and remain valid for three years. The winners are selected by the Awards Committee appointed by the Board of Directors. The committee have the right not to award any of the nominees if they do not consider their achievements exceptional enough, which has already happened several times. (en)

Il reconnaît «des contributions importantes à l'astronomie ou à l'astronomie amateur par les personnes qui ne sont pas employées dans le domaine de l'astronomie à titre professionnel». Les contributions peuvent être faites dans les domaines de l'astronomie d'observation ou des technologies astronomiques. Le prix a été attribué aux astronomes amateurs de divers pays depuis 1979 et est devenu l'un des prix astronomiques les plus diversifiés sur le plan géographique. Les lauréats de ce prix reçoivent une plaque commémorative, présentée lors du banquet des récompenses annuelles. La valeur monétaire du prix est de 500 $ US. Les candidats peuvent être nommés par un membre de la communauté astronomique (à l'exception des candidats eux-mêmes et de leurs familles) et les candidatures doivent être accompagnées d'autres lettres de soutien. Toutes les candidatures doivent être remises à l'Astronomical Society of the Pacific au plus tard le 15 décembre de l'année de candidature et restent valables pendant trois ans. - Il Premio per il miglior risultato amatoriale della Società astronomica del Pacifico è uno dei dieci premi a cadenza annuale assegnati dalla Società astronomica del Pacifico (ASP). In particolare questo premio riconosce "i significativi contributi dati all'astronomia o all'astronomia amatoriale da coloro i quali non sono coinvolti a titolo professionale nel campo dell'astronomia", laddove come "contributi" possono essere presi in considerazione sia quelli data all'astronomia osservativa che quelli dati alle tecnologie astronomiche. Il premio è stato istituito nel 1979 e da allora è stato assegnato ad astronomi amatoriali provenienti da diversi paesi tanto da essere divenuto uno dei premi astronomici a maggior diversificazione geografica. Nel 2018 i membri del consiglio dei direttori dell'ASP hanno deciso di onorare Gordon Myers, membro del consiglio, intitolandogli il premio, il cui nome ufficiale è quindi oggi "Gordon Myers Amateur Achievement Award". I vincitori del premio per il miglior risultato amatoriale ricevono una placca commemorativa, consegnata durante il congresso annuale della Società astronomica del Pacifico, e un premio in denaro del valore di 500 dollari statunitensi. I candidati possono essere nominati da ogni membro della comunità astronomica (con la sola eccezione delle autocandidature e delle candidature di familiari) e le candidature, che restano valide per tre anni, devono essere presentate alla ASP entro il 15 dicembre dell'anno precedente all'assegnazione, meglio se accompagnate da varie lettere di raccomandazione. I vincitori sono quindi selezionati dalla Commissione Premi eletta dal consiglio di amministrazione della ASP. Se, come già accaduto in passato, la Commissione non ritiene nessuno dei risultati presentati sufficientemente meritorio, essa ha il diritto di non nominare nessun vincitore e quindi di non assegnare il premio.
