De la seva carrera professional només destaca el 3r lloc aconseguit a la Volta a Catalunya de 1968. Ha dirigit diferents equips ciclistes com el Bianchi-Campagnolo, l'Ariostea, el MG Maglificio i el Fassa Bortolo; i ha tingut sota les seves ordres corredors com Alessandro Petacchi, Ivan Basso, Joan Antoni Flecha, Fabian Cancellara, Michele Bartoli o Dario Frigo. - Giancarlo Ferretti (* 9. August 1941 in San Bernardino di Lugo) ist ein ehemaliger italienischer Radrennfahrer und Sportlicher Leiter. Als Amateur wurde er 1962 beim Sieg von Fünfter der Tour de l’Avenir. Ferretti war erstmals 1963 als Profi im Radsport aktiv. Bis 1965 fuhr er für das Team Legnano, im Jahr darauf für Sanson. Anschließend fuhr er von 1967 bis 1970 für Salvarani. Ferretti erreichte bei der Berner Rundfahrt 1965 den dritten Platz, außerdem wurde er bei einer Etappe der Tour de Suisse 1966 Zweiter. Ferretti beendete 1970 seine Karriere. Er war seit 1973 Leiter von Radsportteams tätig, u. a. für Bianchi–Piaggio, MG Maglificio-Technogym und zuletzt seit 2000 als Manager von Fassa Bortolo. Nachdem der Sponsor und Teambetreiber sich zum Ablauf der Saison 2005 aus dem Radsport zurückzog, versuchte Ferretti das Team weiterzuführen. Nachdem sich eine angebliche Offerte von Sony Ericsson als Kontakt zu einem Vermittler erwies, der Sony-Ericsson nicht repräsentierte, zog sich Ferretti aus dem Radsport zurück. (de)

- Giancarlo Ferretti (born 16 October 1941 in Lugo) is the former manager of the now-disbanded Italian professional road bicycle racing team, Fassa Bortolo, sponsored by the Italian cement company of the same name. Fassa Bortolo was a top-ranked team until the 2005 season, during which it was part of the UCI ProTour. Among its former riders was classics specialist Michele Bartoli, super-sprinter Alessandro Petacchi, stage racer Ivan Basso, Juan Antonio Flecha, time trial specialist Fabian Cancellara, and many others. In pursuit of new sponsorship for the team, Ferretti believed that Sony Ericsson was interested. However, on 14 October 2005, a man claiming to represent proposed new sponsor Sony Ericsson turned out to be an impostor, leaving all staff and riders unemployed. His strong personality earned him the nickname the iron sergeant. He has been criticized by former riders for being too demanding, strict, and commanding. Uniquely in cycling, when he was the manager of Fassa Bortolo he was made an employee of Fassa Bortolo, the company, and earned some respect for it. (en)

- Giancarlo Ferretti (Lugo, 16 oktober 1941) is een voormalig Italiaans wielrenner, die in de jaren zestig van de 20e eeuw steeds in de schaduw bleef van zijn kopman Felice Gimondi. Zelf behaalde hij nooit een overwinning. Hij werd echter vooral bekend als ploegleider in de wielrennerij. Gedurende de jaren zeventig en tachtig was hij als dusdanig actief bij Bianchi en Ariostea. Eind jaren negentig was hij de verantwoordelijke bij MG. In de 21e eeuw maakte Ferretti furore als manager van Fassa Bortolo. Fassa Bortolo was een topteam tot eind 2005, toen het deel uitmaakte van de UCI ProTour. Voormalige renners waren: Michele Bartoli, Ivan Basso, Juan Antonio Flecha, Fabian Cancellara, Frank Vandenbroucke, topsprinter Alessandro Petacchi en vele anderen. Ferretti poogde een nieuwe sponsor aan te trekken voor zijn team en geloofde dat Sony Ericsson interesse had in zijn team. Hij werd echter het slachtoffer van oplichters waardoor alle renners en werknemers werkloos werden. Door zijn sterke persoonlijkheid kreeg hij de bijnaam de ijzeren generaal.
