- La conca germànica era una conca sedimentària que es formà durant el permià i que s'estenia per gran part d'Europa. En l'estudi d'aquesta conca Friedrich August von Alberti definí el triàsic l'any 1834 a partir de la presència de tres fàcies: Buntsandstein, Muschelkalk i Keuper. Les condicions climàtiques n'eren àrides en estar situada a una latitud de 20° i 30°. Se situava a la zona central del supercontinent Pangea al nord-oest de l'oceà Tetis. (ca)
- Das Germanische Becken (auch Mitteleuropäisches Becken) war ein großes Sedimentationsgebiet in West- und Mitteleuropa, das sich im Perm und in der Trias von England im Westen bis an die Ostgrenze Polens erstreckte. Im Süden wurde es vom Vindelizischen Land und im Westen und Nordwesten vom , Armorikanischem und begrenzt. Im Norden wurde das Becken von den Hochgebieten in Irland und Schottland begrenzt, die damals noch mit dem Nordamerikanischen Kontinent zusammenhingen. Im Osten wurde das Becken von der Osteuropäischen Tafel, im Nordosten vom Fennoskandischen Schild (Skandinavien und Finnland) abgeschlossen. Die Sedimentation begann im Rotliegend mit kontinentalen Ablagerungen. Später im Zechstein und Muschelkalk wurde das Gebiet weitgehend überflutet und bildete ein Epikontinentalmeer (Zechsteinmeer und Muschelkalkmeer). Buntsandstein und Keuper sind wieder überwiegend kontinental geprägt. Aber auch im Buntsandstein und Keuper sind die Randbereiche marin beeinflusst, kurzzeitige Meeresvorstöße erreichten auch das Beckenzentrum in Norddeutschland. Im Zechstein drang das Meer von Norden vom Arktischen Ozean in das Becken. Diese Pforte schloss sich noch im obersten Perm. In der Trias erfolgten diese Meeresvorstöße durch einige „Pforten“ im Süden des Beckens, z. B. die (Ostpolen), die (Westpolen) und die Burgundische Pforte (Frankreich). Im Rhaetium bildeten sich neue Einlässe im Nordwesten des Beckens durch die früheren Hochländer in Irland und Schottland, die von dem sich nun öffnenden Atlantik ausgingen. (de)

A partir de su estudio Friedrich August von Alberti definió el Triásico en el año 1834 a partir de la presencia de tres facies: Buntsandstein, Muschelkalk y Keuper. Las condiciones climáticas eran áridas al estar la cuenca situada a una latitud de entre 20° y 30°. Se ubicaba en la zona central del supercontinente Pangea al noroeste del océano Tetis. (es)
- The Germanic Basin (German: Germanisches Becken) is a large region of sedimentation in Western and Central Europe that, during the Permian and Triassic periods, extended from England in the west to the eastern border of Poland in the east. To the south it is bounded by the (Vindelizische Schwelle) and, to the west and northwest, by the Armorican and London-Brabant Massifs. To the north the basin is bordered by the highlands of Ireland and Scotland, which were then still connected to the North American continent. To the east the basin was defined by the East European Platform, to the northeast by the Fennoscandinavian Shield (Scandinavia and Finland). The sedimentation began in the Rotliegendes with continental depositions. Later, during the Zechstein and Muschelkalk the region was largely flooded by the sea. Bunter sandstone and Keuper are again largely of continental origin. But even in these rocks the perimeter regions have marine influences, short incursions of the sea also reached the centre of the basin in northern Germany. During the Zechstein the sea ingressed from the Arctic Ocean to the north into the basin. This gateway closed during the Uppermost Permian. In the Triassic these marine incursions came through several "portals" in the south of the basin e.g. the (East Poland), the (West Poland) and the Burgundian Gate (France). During the Rhaetian stage, new inlets formed in the northwest of the basin through the former highlands in Ireland and Scotland, which came from the Atlantic Ocean which was now opening up. (en)
