George Henry Hall, 1st Viscount Hall PC (31 December 1881 – 8 November 1965) was a British politician. He served as a Labour Member of Parliament from 1922 to 1946 and was a member of the House of Lords from 1946 to 1965. Born in Penrhiwceiber, Glamorganshire, he started work at the Penrikyber colliery at 12 years of age.

  • George Henry Hall, 1st Viscount Hall PC (31 December 1881 – 8 November 1965) was a British politician. He served as a Labour Member of Parliament from 1922 to 1946 and was a member of the House of Lords from 1946 to 1965. Born in Penrhiwceiber, Glamorganshire, he started work at the Penrikyber colliery at 12 years of age. He continued to work as a collier until appointed checkweigher in 1911, and then to act as checkweigher Local Agent at the South Wales Miners' Federation until elected to Parliament in 1922. He was Labour Member of Parliament for Aberdare from 1922-1946. He served as Civil Lord of the Admiralty, 1929-1931; Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies, 1940-1942; Financial Secretary to the Admiralty, 1942-1943; Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, 1943-1945; Secretary of State for the Colonies, 1945-1946. He was appointed a Privy Counsellor in 1942. On retirement from the House of Commons in 1946 he was raised to the peerage as Viscount Hall, of Cynon Valley, together with the subsidiary title Lord Hall. He then served as First Lord of the Admiralty from 4 October 1946 to 24 May 1951. He was Deputy Leader of the House of Lords, 1947-1951. His titles passed to his son William George Leonard Hall (1913–1985), 2nd Viscount Hall and Lord Hall. (en)

W wieku 12 lat rozpoczął pracę w kopalni w Penrikyber. Pracował tam do 1911 r., kiedy to otrzymał stanowisko checkwieghera. Na tym stanowisku pracował do 1922 r., kiedy to został wybrany do Izby Gmin jako reprezentant okręgu Aberdare. Okręg ten reprezentował do 1946 r. Jego pierwszym stanowiskiem w administracji rządowej był urząd cywilnego lorda Admiralicji, który sprawował w latach 1929-1931. W latach 1940-1942 był parlamentarnym podsekretarzem stanu w Ministerstwie ds. Kolonii. Następnie był finansowym sekretarzem Admiralicji, a w latach 1943-1945 podsekretarzem stanu w Ministerstwie Spraw Zagranicznych. Od 1942 r. był członkiem Tajnej Rady. W 1945 r. został ministrem ds. kolonii, a w latach 1946-1951 był pierwszym lordem Admiralicji. Po odejściu ze stanowiska ministra ds. kolonii otrzymał tytuły 1. wicehrabiego Hall i lorda Hall, dzięki czemu zasiadł w Izbie Lordów. W latach 1947-1951 był wiceprzewodniczącym izby wyższej.
