Frederick "Fred" Hughes (birth unknown – death unknown) was a Welsh rugby union and professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1940s. He played club level rugby union (RU) for Llanelli RFC, Swansea RFC and , and representative level rugby league (RL) for Great Britain (non-Tests) and Wales, and at club level for Barrow, Workington Town and Liverpool Stanley, as a prop, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.
