L'hotel Mundal és un antic edifici de fusta d'estil del segle XIX que encara és un negoci actiu com a hotel. - Fjærland or Mundal is a village in Sogndal Municipality, at the end of the Fjærlandsfjorden, in Vestland county, Norway. The Fjærlandfjorden is a branch going north off the Sognefjorden, the longest fjord in Norway. The village area is located about 31 kilometres (19 mi) northwest of the municipal center of Sogndalsfjøra, along the . The village and its surrounding area encompass rich farming country, including the nearby areas of Bøyum and Oygard. The glacier arms Bøyabreen and Supphellebreen (a part of the Jostedalsbreen glacier) and the Norwegian Glacier Museum are located nearby. Fjærland is also the Norwegian book town, with book shops situated in old cow sheds and pigpens; there are also book shops on the ferry quay and in the Hotel Mundal. The Hotel Mundal is an old wooden building in 19th-century style still in business as a hotel. The hotel was owned by the Orheim family for over a hundred years, until August 2008, when it was sold. Fjærland Church is located in the village, serving the whole Fjærland area. (en)
- Fjærland is een kleine plaats met circa 300 inwoners aan het einde van de , een zijarm van de Sognefjord. Het behoort tot de gemeente Sogndal in de provincie Vestland in Noorwegen. Tot 2000 was Fjærland een deel van de gemeente Balestrand. Het dorp ligt aan de voet van de gletsjer Jostedalsbreen met de gletsjerarmen Bøyabreen, Flatbreen en Supphellebreen, en was lange tijd enkel over het fjord bereikbaar. Dit veranderde in 1994 toen een tunnel werd gebouwd en de RV5 naar het zuiden richting Sogndal werd doorgetrokken. Zodoende werd het dorp verbonden met Skei en de regio Jølster. Het nationaal park Jostedalsbreen is het makkelijkst toegankelijk via Fjærland en Jostedalen (Luster). De gletsjer is goed te zien vanaf RV5, en via het Norsk Bremuseum (Gletsjermuseum) is het mogelijk om over de gletsjer te wandelen met een gids. Een wandeling zonder gids wordt gewoonlijk afgeraden. Het gletsjermuseum is ontworpen door de Noorse architect Sverre Fehn.In Fjærland is een behoorlijk aantal boekwinkels en het wordt dan ook wel de boekenstad genoemd. (nl)
