- Excel war eine Thrash-Metal- und Crossover-Band aus Venice, Los Angeles, Kalifornien, die im Jahr 1983 von Sänger Dan Clements und Gitarrist Adam Siegel gegründet wurde. Hauptsächlich wurden sie von Punk-Rock-Bands aus den 1970er-Jahren wie The Police und The Sex Pistols, sowie von Metal-Bands wie Black Sabbath, Trouble, Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity und Cryptic Slaughter beeinflusst. Zudem wurden sie auch von Streetart beeinflusst. Die Band ist für das Sprühen von Graffiti bekannt. Sie verteilten ihre Logos hauptsächlich in Straßen von Städten, in denen sie ihre Touren abhielten. Excel trat wiederholt mit verschiedenen Bands aus Venice und aus anderen Teilen Kaliforniens auf. - Excel is a crossover thrash band from Venice, California, founded in 1983 by singer Dan Clements and guitarist Adam Siegel. They were influenced by 1970s punk rock musicians like the Germs and Black Flag, and heavy metal bands like Black Sabbath, Trouble, Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity and Cryptic Slaughter. They were also influenced by street art, Excel is known for painting graffiti on the streets of the cities where they make their tours, hence there are many different logos of the band. Excel came out of the West Side Los Angeles crossover thrash scene as did many others in California like No Mercy, Beowülf, Suicidal Tendencies and Cryptic Slaughter, and sometimes with other performers on the thrash metal scene like Testament, Overkill and Megadeth. Excel has recorded three studio albums, three split albums, five demos, three singles and two live albums; the band broke up in 1995 but in 2001 they released new versions of their first two albums: Split Image and The Joke's on You, with some bonus tracks. In August 2009 they edited a special collection of eight DVDs of their tours around Europe and Los Angeles and published them on their official MySpace. As of January 2012, Excel has re-formed. (en)

- Excel é uma banda de crossover thrash e hardcore dos Estados Unidos da América. A banda foi formada em 1984 com o nome Chaotic Noise por Adam Siegel e Dan Clements. Inicialmente eram influenciados por famosas bandas de punk rock dos anos 70 como Black Flag e The Germs, e bandas de heavy metal como Trouble, Slayer, Corrosion of Conformity e . Eles também foram influenciados pela [street art]], o Excel é conhecido por pintar [grafites]]. No início devido à constante troca de baixista a banda era vista como instável, como eles próprios diziam: "Tinhamos um baixista novo a cada quatro meses e as pessoas nos achavam instáveis.", mas em 1984, entra Rickey Pallomino que fica por mais de um ano e com ele gravam a primeira demo.Após a saída do baterista Evan Warech e do baixista Rickey Pallomino em 1985 a banda mudou o nome para Excel que era um nome grafitado por Shaun Ross e um grupo de amigos. Poucos meses depois participam da coletânea "Welcome to Venice" com três músicas. A banda fez dois álbuns , Split Image (1987) e o The Joke's on You (1989) e depois fez sua primeira turnê que foi para os Países Baixos, até que em 1990 Adam entra no Infectious Grooves, banda em que participou de três discos. Em 1993 a banda processa o Metallica por considerarem que a música "Enter Sandman" era um plágio da "Tapping into the Emotional Void" do disco "The Joke's on You" lançado dois anos antes do "Black Album", porém a ação não foi para frente. No mesmo ano Adam e Greg abandonam a banda para formar o trio "My Head". Eles são substituídos por Brandon Rudley e Max, o que deixa a banda com um estilo stoner metal e gravam o terceiro álbum "Seeking Refuge". Algum tempo depois Rudley morre de aneurisma cerebral aos 25 anos de idade e a banda é oficialmente encerrada. Em janeiro de 2012 anunciam o retorno sem o guitarrista Adam Siegel, que recusou o convite, e foi substituído por Alex Barreto, um amigo de longa data da banda.
