- Eleanor E. Ahlers (May 16, 1911 – November 24, 1997) was a foreign languages teacher, teacher-librarian and university professor who served as president of the American Association of School Libraries. Ahlers advocated for improved school library/media collections, services, and full librarian involvement in curriculum development, not only in the State of Washington, but nationally. She received many honors during her career, including entries in Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the West, and Who's Who of American Women. Eleanor Ahlers died on November 24, 1997 in Seattle at the age of 85. (en)
