Edward White Benson (14 July 1829 – 11 October 1896) was Archbishop of Canterbury from 1883 until his death. Before this, he was the first Bishop of Truro, serving from 1877 to 1883, and began construction of Truro Cathedral. He was previously a schoolmaster and was the first Master of Wellington College from 1859 to 1872.

  • Edward White Benson, född 14 juli 1829, död 11 oktober 1896, var en brittisk teolog och kyrkoman. Han var far till Arthur Christopher Benson, Edward Frederic Benson och Robert Hugh Benson. Benson var ärkebiskop av Canterbury 1883-96. Han verkade ivrigt för att stärka kyrkans inflytande och göra den till en aktiv faktor i nationen liv. Han underhöll även nära förbindelser med orientens kyrkor, men deltog däremot inte i närmandet till romersk-katolska kyrkan. Han är för sitt förhållande i det så kallade "Lincolnmålet", där han frikände biskop King i Lincoln, åtalad för ritualism i strid mot Book of Common Prayer. Som teolog intog han en mellanställning utan att ansluta sig till något särskilt av anglikanismens riktningar.
