  • Eddington is the lava-flooded remnant of a lunar impact crater, located on the western part of Oceanus Procellarum. The western rim is attached to the wall of the Struve walled-plain. To the east-southeast is the smaller but prominent Seleucus crater. South of Eddington is Krafft crater. The south and southeastern rim of Eddington is almost completely gone, leaving only a few ridges and promontories in the lunar mare to trace the outline of the original crater. As a consequence, Eddington is now essentially a bay in the Oceanus Procellarum. The remainder of the rim is worn and irregular, forming a mountainous arc that is widest in the north. The floor is almost free of craters of significance, with the nearly-submerged crater 'Eddington P' lying in the southeast sector. If the crater once had a central peak, it is no longer evident. Der südliche und südöstliche Randwall sind fast komplett verschwunden, weshalb man nur noch ein paar Felsvorsprünge und Hügel im Mare sieht, die sich entlang des ehemaligen Kraters ziehen. Der Krater ist also eher wie eine Bucht des Oceanus Procellarum, die in Richtung Süden zum Meer hin geöffnet ist. Der Boden des Kraters ist praktisch eben und es gibt außer dem beinahe versunkenen Krater Eddington P im südöstlichen Sektor keine erwähnenswerten weiteren Krater innerhalb des Hauptkraters. Il bordo occidentale è attaccato alla parete del cratere Struve. A est-sudest è presente il piccolo cratere Seleuco e a sud il cratere Krafft. Il bordo sud e sudest è quasi completamente assente, lasciando il posto a qualche cresta e promontorio che tracciano il confine del cratere originale. Di conseguenza, Eddington è essenzialmente un avvallamento nell' Oceanus Procellarum. Il resto del bordo è consumato e irregolare, formante un arco montagnoso che è il più ampio nell'emisfero settentrionale. Il letto del cratere è praticamente libero da crateri significativi, tranne il cratere quasi sommerso 'Eddington P', che si trova nel settore sudest.
