- ECOSIMIA (bis 2006: SINTRAL) mit der spanischen Bedeutung "EL ECOSISTEMA ES RESPONSABILIDAD MIA" (deutsch: "Das Ökosystem ist meine Verantwortung") ist ein Lokales Tausch- und Handelssystem (LETS) und beschreibt eine alternative Wirtschaftsstruktur in Ecuador. 1992 entstand innerhalb der Fundación Educativa Pestalozzi (einem alternativen Schulprojekt in Tumbaco, Ecuador) der erste SINTRAL-Markt in Ecuador der an das kanadische LETS-System angelehnt war. Das ECOSIMIA-Netz dient dem Handel ohne offizielle Währung und ist im Moment bereits in 13 Provinzen Ecuadors aktiv. Die Transaktionen innerhalb einer Gruppe werden mit einem Zahlenwert versehen, und auf Schecks aufgezeichnet. Ein Durchschlag dieser Schecks geht an die lokale Bank, die das "Soziale Gedächtnis" der Gruppe bildet. Der Zahlenwert hat rein statistische Bedeutung: es gibt keine Schulden und es ist nicht möglich einen "Gegenwert" zu dieser Zahl zu fordern. Die Transaktionen auf Landesebene werden zwischen den Gruppen direkt abgesprochen. Seit Anfang 2000 hat sich die wirtschaftliche Lage der meisten Menschen in Ecuador durch die Einführung des US-Dollars als Landeswährung drastisch verschärft. Während dieser Krise fasste Mauricio Wild (der Mitbegründer der Aktiven Schule des Fundación Educativa Pestalozzi) den Entschluss, im ganzen Land (SINTRAL-)Gruppen zu gründen, die untereinander in einem dezentralen Netz Handel treiben können. Diese Gruppen verbreiteten sich vor allem in den ländlichen Gebieten Ecuadors. Heute existieren landesweit bereits etwa 140 ECOSIMIA-Gruppen. (de)
- ECOSIMIA (El Ecosistema es Responsabilidad Mia), previously known as SINTRAL, is a LETS and describes an alternative economic structure in Ecuador. Developed within the (an alternative school project in Tumbaco), the first SINTRAL-market took place 1992. Like other LETSs, ECOSIMIA is a non-monetary mutual credit system that includes a record of the transactions made by each member. When two group members exchange a product or service, they assign that transaction a numerical value. They inform the local bank, who enter it into their public records. The numerical value has purely statistic meaning: there are no debts and it is not possible to demand an equivalent to this number. Transactions on a regional level are agreed directly between the groups. Beginning in 2000 the economic situation for most of the people in Ecuador became more difficult with the introduction of the US Dollar as national currency. During this crisis, Mauricio Wild (the co-founder of the Fundación Educativa Pestalozzi) resolved to create a decentralized network of groups to trade all over the country. These groups spread particularly in the rural areas of Ecuador. Today there are already about 140 Ecosimia-groups in Ecuador, operating in 13 provinces. In this particular case a number of such groups from all over Ecuador have come together to form a country-wide trading network. As a consequence of this experience, at a SINTRAL meeting, held from 20 – 22 April 2006, the name SINTRAL was changed to ECOSIMIA, from the Spanish “el ECOSIstema es responsabilidad MIA," meaning the ecosystem is my own responsibility. Powstał w ramach w 1992 w ramach alternatywnego projektu uniwersyteckiego w . W przypadku tego systemu wiele grup z całego Ekwadoru utworzyło krajową sieć wymiany dóbr i usług. ECOSIMIA pozwala na wymianę towarową bez użycia oficjalnej waluty i obecnie jest dostępna w 13 prowincjach Ekwadoru. Transakcje są dokonywane z pewną wartością numeryczną notowaną na czekach. Kopia czeku trafia do lokalnego banku, który pełni rolę społecznej pamięci grupy. Wartość transakcji ma wartość czysto statystyczną. W systemie nie występuje dług i nie można żądać ekwiwalentu wartości wyrażonej na czeku. Począwszy od 2000 sytuacja ekonomiczna większości ludzi w Ekwadorze pogorszyła się w następstwie dolaryzacji, czyli wprowadzenia dolara amerykańskiego jako lokalnej waluty. W czasie kryzysu (współtwórca fundacji ) zaproponował stworzenie zdecentralizowanej sieci grup wymiany towarowej w całym kraju.
