- General elections were held in East Germany on 20 October 1963. They were to originally be held in November 1962 but were postponed. 434 deputies to the Volkskammer were elected, with all of them being candidates of the single-list National Front, dominated by the communist Socialist Unity Party of Germany. - Die Volkskammerwahl 1963 war die Wahl zur 4. Volkskammer der DDR und fand am 20. Oktober 1963 statt. Sie war eine Scheinwahl. Es konnte lediglich über die Einheitsliste der Nationalen Front abgestimmt werden. Die Wahl hatte auf die Stärke der Fraktionen keinen Einfluss. Deren Größe wurde im Voraus festgelegt. Das Wahlrecht der DDR erlaubte auf dem Papier die öffentliche Kontrolle der Wahlauszählung. In der Praxis fand dies aus Angst vor Repressionen nicht statt. Aufgrund des Viermächte-Status der Stadt Berlin wurden die 66 Abgeordneten von Ost-Berlin indirekt durch den Magistrat von Ost-Berlin bestimmt. (de)

Se eligieron un total de 434 diputados a la Volkskammer, siendo todos ellos candidatos de la lista única del Frente Nacional. De 11 621 158 electores inscritos, 11 533 859 (99,25%) votaron, con el 99,95% de los votos para los candidatos del Frente y el 0,05% en contra. El 0,04% de los votos fueron invalidados. (es)
