Everett Russell "Shorty" Cowell (September 24, 1897 – July 15, 1931) was an American football and basketball coach. He served as the football coach at Sterling College in Sterling, Kansas from 1926 to 1927, compiling a record of 8–8. Cowell was also the head basketball coach at Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas from 1923 to 1925, tallying a mark of 16–20.
