- The second season of the television series Stargate Atlantis commenced airing on the Sci Fi Channel in the United States on July 15, 2005, concluded on The Movie Network in Canada on January 30, 2006, and contained 20 episodes. The show itself is a spin off of its sister show, Stargate SG-1. The series was developed by Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper, who also served as executive producers. Season two regular cast members include Joe Flanigan, Torri Higginson, Rachel Luttrell, Jason Momoa, Paul McGillion, and David Hewlett as Dr. Rodney McKay. The second season focuses on the Atlantis Expedition continuing to make the Wraith think that the city self-destructed, (The Siege Part III) while continuing to explore Pegasus and hunt for ZPMs (although they do have one now) this means at times lying to new allies about the city even sometimes claiming to be a small contingent that escaped the Siege; the season also marks the first time the Expedition is able to make contact with Earth although doing so uses a lot of power so the contact is oftentimes via the Daedalus, an intergalactic Earth-Asgard vessel commanded by Col. Steven Caldwell who makes clear his desire to be Military Leader of Atlantis but eventually settles for a sort of advisory role as it becomes clear that Dr. Weir and the Lt.Col Sheppard are a duo not to be messed with. The central plot of the second season is the development of Dr. Beckett's retrovirus, which can, theoretically, turn a Wraith into a human. The one-hour premiere, "The Siege Part III", aired on July 15, 2005. The theme song for the series received an Emmy nomination in the category "Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score)". The series was developed by Brad Wright and Robert C. - L'episodio ricomincia col Mag. Sheppard sul Jumper intento a portare la testata Genii in una delle 2 astronavi alveare rimaste. La nave esplode ma Sheppard riesce a salvarsi grazie all'arrivo della tanto attesa Daedalus che lo teletrasporta a bordo (essendo dotata di tecnologia Asgard possiede un ottimo sistema di teletrasporto) e invia nel contempo su Atlantide il modulo ZPM per poi ingaggiare la nave Wraith. I missili si rivelano inefficaci così Sheppard propone di teletrasportare la testata direttamente nella nave nemica rimasta che viene distrutta. I Wraith però puntano i Dardi sulla città ad altissima velocità per schiantarcisi su. Fortunatamente lo scudo viene riattivato in tempo da evitare il disastro e le rimanenti navi aliene battono in ritirata. La tregua non dura, infatti poco dopo vengono individuate ben 12 navi alveare con relativa scorta in avvicinamento. Nel frattempo il tenente Ford, dopo essere stato infettato da un Wraith, viene ritrovato in condizioni disperate al largo della città, attaccato a esso. Il dottor Beckett pensa di poterlo salvare, ma il rimedio potrebbe essere peggiore del male. La Daedalus tende un'imboscata alle navi nemiche distruggendone 2 prima di essere costretta a ritornare a Atlantide, danneggiata e non più in grado di teletrasportare le testate. Viene così proposto di occultare la città con un generatore stealth connesso allo scudo mascherando i sensori nemici con un'esplosione nucleare (non è pensabile resistere a lungo al fuoco delle navi, lo ZPM si esaurirebbe in pochi giorni) in modo da indurre i Wraith a anadrsene. Sheppard va in cerca del Ten. Ford che è diventato dipendente dall'enzima iniettato dai Wraith prima di uccidere le vittime e aggredisce alcuni uomini. Sheppard lo stordisce con il fucile Wraith ma Ford non cade, ruba un jumper e varca lo Stargate proprio mentre la città è occultata, per fortuna senza farsi rilevare dai Wraith che lasciano l'orbita convinti dell'autodistruzione di Atlantide. Шепард получает повышение до подполковника, а бывший беглец заменяет место лейтенанта Форда в команде. Основная сюжетная линия этого сезона построена на исследованиях доктора по созданию ретровируса способного превращать рейфов назад в людей. Хотя первые опыты с незаконченным вирусом и приводят к плачевным результату с девочкой-рейфом и чуть не заканчиваются превращением Шепарда в жука Иратуса, исследования улучшенной версии приводят к неоднозначным результатам с рейфом . Сезон снова заканчивается «неоднозначным финалом», когда флот рейфов начинает свой полёт к Земле. (ru)
