- Diocles of Cnidus (Greek: Διοκλῆς) was an Academic Skeptic philosopher, who is mentioned as the author of Διατριβαί (Discussions) from which a fragment is quoted by Eusebius: Diocles of Cnidos asserts in his Diatribae, that through fear of the followers of Theodorus the Atheist, and of the Sophist Bion, who used to assail the philosophers, and shrank from no means of refuting them, Arcesilaus took precautions, in order to avoid trouble, by never appearing to suggest any dogma, but used to put forward the epoche (suspense of judgement) as a protection, like the black juice which the cuttlefishes throw out. Διοκλῆς από τον Κνίδος; не раніше III століття до н. е.) — давньогрецький філософ школи Платона, який походив зі спартанської колонії Кніда, яка розташовувалась на Тріопійському мисі регіону Карія. Його твори не збереглися. Згідно з Євсевієм Кесарійським Діокл написав твір під назвою «Дискусія» (дав.-гр. Λίβελλος, (лат. Diatribe), у якому він жахався, що послідовники філософа Феодора Атеїста з Кирени і його учня, софіста Біона Борисфенського, які нападають на філософів і не прагнуть в цьому вибачатися. А от скептик Аркесілай,, щоб уникнути неприємностей ніколи не припускати доказовості будь-якої догми висунув концепцію «тривоги судження» як захист, як чорнило, що викидають при загрозі нападу каракатиці.
