He is 1.84 meters tall and weighs 79 kilograms. His youth club is F.C. St. Pauli, and he had an important role when F.C. St. Pauli were promoted to 1. Bundesliga in 2001. He also played for SpVgg Greuther Fürth in Germany. After his years in F.C. St. Pauli, he had taken the attention of the talent predator Gençlerbirliği chairman İlhan Cavcav and he was transferred to Gençlerbirliği. In Gençlerbirliği's UEFA Cup campaign, he was one of the most influential players of the team. His team defeated outstanding European clubs such as Blackburn Rovers and Sporting Lisbon. In 2004, Fenerbahçe chairman bought Deniz to his team paying one of the Gençlerbirliği's record transfer fees. Deniz was the member of Turkish squad in 2003 FIFA Confederations Cup. (en)
