- The Democratic Alliance of Chile (Spanish: Alianza Democrática de Chile) was a coalition of left-wing parties from 1942 to 1946, which succeeded to the Popular Front headed by Pedro Aguirre Cerda's government (1938-1941). It included the Radical Party, the Socialist Party, the Communist Party, the Democratic Party and the Workers' Socialist Party (until June 1944, when its members integrated the Communist Party), and was also supported by the (CTCH) trade-union. The coalition initial aim was to stand united before the 1942 presidential election, which were won by the Democratic Alliance's candidate, Juan Antonio Ríos, who formed a cabinet which was supported by the main parties of the Democratic Alliance. The coalition dissolved itself after the communists were outlawed by Gabriel Gonzalez Videla in 1947 . (en)
- La Alianza Democrática comprendida entre los años 1942 y 1947, fue una coalición electoral y de gobierno chilena formada en octubre de 1942. Estaba conformada por el Partido Radical, Partido Socialista, Partido Comunista, Partido Democrático y el Partido Socialista de Trabajadores (hasta junio de 1944 cuando se incorporan sus militantes al PCCh). Apoyada por la Confederación de Trabajadores de Chile. Es la continuación del Frente Popular, a la muerte de Pedro Aguirre Cerda. El candidato presidencial, el radical Juan Antonio Ríos gana la elección de 1942. Este conforma un gobierno que tiene como base los principales partidos de la Alianza Democrática sin embargo al inicio de la administración de Ríos, la alianza tambalea y pone presiones al gobierno repetidamente. Al morir Ríos en el cargo (1946), la alianza empieza un rápido deterioro. No obstante logró triunfar en las elecciones presidenciales de 1946 con la candidatura de Gabriel González Videla, la que no contó con el apoyo del Partido Socialista. Sin embargo, la Alianza se disolvió en 1947 tras las elecciones municipales, derivando posteriormente en la ilegalización del Partido Comunista de Chile. (es)

De Alianza Democrática was de opvolger van het Frente Popular (Volksfront) dat bestond van 1936 tot 1941. De volgende politieke partijen waren aangesloten bij de Alianza Democrática:

De presidentskandidaat van de Alianza Democrática, Gabriel González Videla (PR), werd in 1946 tot president van Chili gekozen. Na de gemeenteraadsverkiezingen van 1947 werd het Frente Popular opgeheven, mede omdat de communistische partij werd verboden. In 1956 werd de Frente de Acción Popular (Front van de Volksactie) opgericht als alliantie van linkse partijen onder leiding van de socialistische partij van Salvador Allende en geldt als de opvolger van de Alianza Democrática.
